All-Ireland U16 hurling rolls of honour

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Would anyone know the winners of the the following years in The All-Ireland Under-16 Hurling 'B' & 'C'. I am doing GAA research and I am one of the editors of the Tippgaaarchives website. I am trying to find every All-Ireland title in hurling and football ever and I am having trouble with these:

All-Ireland Under-16 hurling 'B' (AKA Under-16 average counties hurling, Under-16 special 'B' hurling)
1972: Roscommon v Laois (Don't know the winner)
1974: Derry v Kildare (Don't know the winner)
1977: No sign of any competition
1983: No sign of any competition
1985: No sign of any competition
1988: Roscommon / Derry / Kildare / Antrim (Don't know finalists or winner)
1989: Wicklow v Kerry/Meath (Don't know the other finalist or winner)
1990: Don't know the finalists or winner)
1993: Antrim v Down (Don't know the winner)
2000: Carlow v Antrim (Don't know the winner)
2003: Antrim v Meath (Don't know the winner)
2004: Carlow v Antrim (Don't know the winner)

All-Ireland Under-16 hurling 'C' (AKA Under-16 Weaker oounties hurling, Under-16 Special 'C' hurling)
1971: Armagh v Sligo (Don't know the winner)
1974: Mayo v ????? (Don't know the other finalist or winner)
1975-1981: No Sign of any competition
1985: No sign of any competition
1991: Mayo v Tyrone (Don't know the winner)
1993: Armagh v Louth (Don't know the winner)
1995: Armagh v Lonford (Don't know the winner)
1996: Armagh v Antrim (Don't know the winner)
1998: Armagh v ????? (Don't know the other finalist or winner)
2003: No Sign of any competition

Also, there are a few Vocational schools hurling and football 'B' I cannot find:

All-Ireland Vocational Schools Inter-county hurling 'B'
1995-1998: No Sign of any competition
2003-2005: No Sign of any competition
2008, 2010 or 2011: No Sign of any competition

All-Ireland Vocational Schools Inter-county football 'B'
2007, 2010 or 2011: No sign of any competition

If I can get these, I will have found every All-Ireland inter county ever made and there are some people on this who know their stuff.

The 1996 C Competition was won by Armagh. Still haunts me to this day.

Longford beat Donegal in minor C final in Brewster Park around year 2000. Can you verify that year for me, please? Armagh beat Longford in the U16 the same year (a fortnight before), played in Garrison, Co. Fermanagh.

Thanks lads very much, that is helpful to no end. This is the only place on the internet where I could get a response like that.
Castlebravo, my research agreed with 95% of what you said Bar 3 of them
1969 I have down as Offaly winning a 2nd in a row rather than Carlow, In 1980 I have Meath winning instead of 'Not Held' and in 2005 I have Meath winning instead of Carlow. Seeing as you are a Meath man, maybe you can shed some light as to why we differ on them.
And of course Ive no idea still of 1972 between Laois and Roscommon But I am only a couple more to finishing if off totally.

Keeper7, I have Longford down as Winning the Minor C and being beaten by Armagh in the year 2000 in the Under-16 C. It was Longford's second ever Minor C title, the first being in 1997

Well Meath definitely lost to Carlow in 05. The hoganstand meath facebook had a photo of that U16 team up recently, stating they lost.

"1995: Armagh v Lonford (Don't know the winner)"

Armagh won that. My brother was on that Longford U16 panel & the victorious minor squad 2 years later. I was involved with the minors who won in 2000 & also played in a losing minor final against Donegal in the early 90's.

Dún na nGall lost to Maigh Eo in the U16 C in either 2005 or 2006. I was born in 89, so whichever it was that had me under age. We miraculously beat Ard Mhacha in the Cluiche Ceannais Ulaidh.

Is that so, Pat? Would you have you any details about the Longford squad at the time? The players & management etc. I don't think there's been a county minor hurling team since the team that won in 2000. They're trying to get it together this year but it's hard to bridge the gap...

Keeper7, I would love to put them on wikipedia because they are easy access for anyone but they can be edited by people and such. I was thinking of getting them all together and having a kind of collection for people to see. I don't think anyone else in the country would have every All-Ireland in every grade and level in both hurling and football in the same place.
I do all the research for counties who would be less successful so that they know they have won things and every county has had success to cheer about.
All I need now is the 1972 'B' Under-16 final between Laois and Roscommon, The rest of the Under-16 'C' hurling and the few Vocational schools hurling and football 'B' to finish it off as you can see above.

In the 1971 Armagh vs. Sligo "C" Hurling U-16, Sligo won. Don't remind me. I was the Armagh captain but couldn't play because of a broken wrist sustained in the dying seconds of the semi against Derry.

The management was seanie stakelum, tommy hackett and the late Brendan Carberry. There was a minor team a year later they won the Leinster minor hurling shield beating Louth in the final.

Oraisteach, Thanks very much for that. Were you part of the successful Armagh team in 1973 aswell by any chance?
