For a county that tastes success so rarely theres a lively club scene . Mid Louth and the Peninsula seem the strong areas. Dundalk to its credit has a lot of Clubs when you compare it to similar large towns of Portlaoise and Athlone. Drogheda despite the blues success could do with more investment. hurler32 (Limerick) - Posts: 845 - 24/11/2020 13:50:41 2314678 Link 0 |
Nail on head about soccer. Start by banning all soccer jerseys on GAA grounds.

Cheers Goldrick and by the way congrats to Cavan on their historic Ulster win over Donegal on Sunday.

I hope so because the football scene in Antrim needs a serious jolt in the right direction

Rumours going around here that Martin Sludden's going to be involved in some capacity. Him and Mickey would be big pals, but that would be interesting. TakeyourPoint. (Tyrone) - Posts: 132 - 24/11/2020 14:24:22 2314708 Link 0 |

Ahh Ollie this is a shot in the arm to Louth. Should make it out of division 4. But are the players there?? Is there many who didn't commit that might ?? Just curious as it was said by Fitzpatrick on radio about players will commit that haven't royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 17035 - 24/11/2020 15:24:46 2314741 Link 0 |

Royaldunne the players are there alright in Louth but to be playing for the county is another thing. With Mark Harte there its just the boost that wee need.

Problem with Louth is GAA has completely died in the two big Urban areas Dundalk and Drogheda. Past hurler (None) - Posts: 285 - 24/11/2020 17:00:35 2314802 Link 0 |

I think if Declan goes the pressure will be immense here for Jim to come back in again, but it all depends on what Declan and the county board decide to do, winning Ulster's isn't enough we need to be challenging for Sam with the talent we have, thank God 2021 is just around the corner and we can go again and try and achieve what we are capable off, be straight back to league football, can't imagine there'll be a McKenna cup competition next year.

Best of luck to you. And Louth. Looking forward to a possible meeting next year.

I'd be surprised if Jim came back at this time. Maybe sometime in the future but he's just after spending 6 years doing coaching badges and working across the globe in senior roles in soccer. Hes said in interviews that his focus is with professional sport. Any full time job in gaelic football will likely hinder his opportunities now. With the talent in Donegal Bonner will likely want to hang around and correct a few weaknesses and will likely appreciate the quick turnaround for the 2021 championship. Rochford staying on would be a huge plus as well. Donegal have a lot to build with as it is.

Well good for Louth. There are a few great young players - U20's at the moment & it would be great to see them grow in the game & experience success under Harte's tutelage. greysoil (Monaghan) - Posts: 830 - 24/11/2020 21:46:07 2315004 Link 0 |
