What is the logical reason for moving it out of Croke Park? daytona11 (Kildare) - Posts: 3772 - 23/11/2020 15:59:22 2314087 Link 0 |
It might make the game more interesting if it were played somewhere else, seeing as the receipt of the gate isn't going to be an issue.

It's not hard to see Dublin enjoy playing in Croker Park more then elsewhere. It suits their style, wide space of Croke Park. Even compared to Parnell it suits them more. The likes of Armagn is a tighter compact pitch., The league Match Meath played against Dublin was more competitive then what happened the other night FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2216 - 23/11/2020 16:12:20 2314098 Link 2 |
Might do. Why weren't any of the Leinster games played elsewhere though. Can't have one rule for Leinster counties and a different rule for the rest. We've already seen the damage that happens when a county is given preferential treatment.

Not going to make a blind bit of difference! I would say the players would want croker aswell.

I agree with you but the process of getting Dublin out of croke Park has to start somewhere. The semis and final should be in croke Park I do think once and if ever the gaa take home advantage off them. letterkennyGuy (Donegal) - Posts: 111 - 23/11/2020 16:47:58 2314131 Link 1 |
Did Leinster counties ask to have it moved? If not, then this is kinda non argument. A different rule for the "west" is only at the guessing stage. Cavan haven't voiced disagreement about Croke park. We did last year re the super 8 games and then Dublin had to travel out of Croke park for one of their games. Does it make the championship more interesting? I think it does. Its good for the Dublin supporters too, they get a chance to see some of the other grounds around the country. I don't know what would be "preferential" about having a match in a neutral venue. Its only preferential when you put it next to indifferent Leinster Counties who are happy enough to go to Croke park regardless. The Cavan players may want to play in Croke park, although they may have 2nd opinions about this when there is going to be no one at it. Ultimately, people may argue that it doesn't make a blind bit of difference where the game is played, the Dubs will win pulling up. But it could be a more interesting and less one sided fixture if it were to be played in a neutral venue. Lots of ifs here. We are only speculating on a good idea. AI Semis should be in Croker. I am not sure why all Dublin's games in Leinster were in an empty Croker. Missed a trick there unclegerry (Mayo) - Posts: 1198 - 23/11/2020 17:41:14 2314160 Link 0 |
Kevin Cassidy on Twitter not impressed with the talk of taking Dublin out of Croker, saying why don't we ask Dublin to play with 13 men FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2216 - 23/11/2020 17:54:59 2314167 Link 3 |
No reason the game shouldn't be in Breffni if Cavan want it there, why should Dublin always have home advantage especially in this year when spectator numbers aren't an issue? Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 1076 - 23/11/2020 18:37:43 2314189 Link 1 |
Leave us Dubs out of this juvenile moaning, you would swear the stadiums where full. Direct it to the GAA. We Dubs get it, the capitol city has the main stadium. It is not Dublins fault that a bunch of boggers in the 1920s decided to build the Stadium in Dublin. Its not our fault GAA wont let us build our own stadium its not our fault the rest of Leinster are happy to keep us in Dublin. Some of the stuff out there about Dublin team last Saturday is quite shocking, disgusting and bordering on just hatred. The end result is most Dubs will just leave this forum which is clearly what you all want and then you can bang off each other in an empty dcho chamber, while the juggernaut rolls on.

Might not be a bad solution to have the Dubs play with 13 men, might help even things up in Leinster but they'd probably still hammer all before them. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 1076 - 23/11/2020 18:48:44 2314194 Link 0 |

Why 13 ? A better solution would have Dublin play with 10 players -:)

For sure, this thing about taking games out of croker is mad! Cavan get to an allireland semi final and supoorters want them to play in navan or somewhere? Players want to play in croke park.

You could vary it depending on who you were playing!! sad day for the rest of Leinster when that kind of point actually makes any sense.

semi-finals and finals should be in the national HQ. If you want to take Dublin out of Croke Park then the GAA or the Leinster Council should propose this for lesser games. I also don't think the playing surface in Croke Park is much bigger than other pitches so the "wide open spaces" thing is a myth. I would dearly love to be going to Croke Park to cheer on my team but alas it's not to be. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5356 - 23/11/2020 20:13:51 2314257 Link 1 |
Ridiculous asking Cavan to play outside Coker I'm sure they want the opposite. Pity fans can't attend. WildPundit (Tipperary) - Posts: 1645 - 23/11/2020 20:18:53 2314260 Link 0 |
What better place to play football than Croke Park. 2005 Tyrone played 5 matches there on route to winning Final. A pleasure to go to Headquarters.

Im only staying within the terms of the thread. If you don't like it, don't click on it. If you do click on it, expect Dublin to be included in the debate. So saying "leave Dublin out of juvenile moaning" would be best used as a title for a new thread.
