Likely it should lad, but there's no lights there for this time of year. It'll be set for Croker Saturday week. Unless they do decide for another neutral venue somewhere that does have lights

Navan is too close to Cavan. Only one letter difference. Offside_Rule (Antrim) - Posts: 4029 - 23/11/2020 10:55:10 2313749 Link 3 |
Tha. would be a bit like switching seats on the Titanic if all the pundits. are to be believed. But if it makes ye happy then play it wherever.

The All -Ireland football semi-Final should be played in the best grounds, having the best surface and best drainage, all the more as it will be played during the winter season. That pitch is Croke Park. The size of the pitch is also conducive fainleog (Limerick) - Posts: 533 - 23/11/2020 11:05:08 2313768 Link 3 |
If all pundits were to be believed, ye'd be playing donegal!

Hi Tom. Normally I would agree but what would be the benefit of moving it to Navan? Every Leinster team has to go into Corker for their hiding so off with yis and enjoy the day. Be thankful it's not a yearly thing though. daytona11 (Kildare) - Posts: 3772 - 23/11/2020 11:05:17 2313771 Link 3 |
Laytown beach is a good firm option. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4434 - 23/11/2020 11:09:34 2313777 Link 1 |
I suppose Mullingar would be the alternative. It has lights. Much the same distance for Cavan and Dublin too

Very good.

Not familiar with the grounds at Navan but it should be played on the best conditioned field available. At this stage of the Championship the players deserve to be on top class fields. Without the crowd the home field advantage is minimal. Cavan could go down for a few practice sessions over the next 2 weeks. The GAA surely will allow this. gatha (Kilkenny) - Posts: 183 - 23/11/2020 11:13:54 2313789 Link 0 |
Actually it doesn't. Will be Croker

Should definitely be a neutral venue, agree with mcconville 100%. HuddHastings (Longford) - Posts: 77 - 23/11/2020 11:22:40 2313800 Link 0 |
Where would the Cavan team and management want to play? I would suggest Croker?? A once in 23 years chance? They will want to strut their stuff in Croker, I think? FeargalSR (USA) - Posts: 5 - 23/11/2020 11:25:51 2313802 Link 0 |
I think it should be but that's not the way the GAA does things. This year, with no crowd capacity issues, was the year the GAA should have removed the need for all Dublin games to be in Croke Park. bdbuddah (Meath) - Posts: 768 - 23/11/2020 11:32:44 2313810 Link 1 |
Jaysus I see the Cavan boys are already trying to save on petrol by suggesting Navan instead of Croker, tight as a nun's you know what hai!! ;-) Htaem (Meath) - Posts: 8583 - 23/11/2020 11:35:48 2313812 Link 0 |
Id love it in Breffni myself, cracking little GAA ground, one of my favorites, apart from the traffic through Virginia, but wont be a problem this year. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 3671 - 23/11/2020 11:38:13 2313815 Link 0 |
I'd be happy enough if Dublin just made the gesture and offered to have it played in Breffni. Lovely ground, lights and great playing surface. It will be HQ in all likelihood given there are not many neutral alternatives. TrueBlue35 (Dublin) - Posts: 166 - 23/11/2020 11:41:05 2313818 Link 0 |
I am a fan of getting the Dubs out and about, as are most Dubs I know, but this is an All Ireland semi. Has anybody asked the Cavan players? If it was me and I knew I was in for a 25 point beating, I would much rather receive it after seeing the inside of Croke Park and trot across that gorgeous turf at least once. Plus the Pairc Tailteann pitch is a bog at the best of times and its all fun and games until somebody snaps an ankle in 3 inches of mud.
