Great Day For Football

(Oldest Posts First)

What an emotional rollercoaster day in the annals of championship football. I was rivited to the happenings in Páirc Uí Chaoimh and Omagh and I hope everybody else was too. What a dramatic afternoon. Even as a diehard Kerryman I couldn't but help shed a tear around 6 o'clock. Well done Cavan and Tipp. I hope all of us appreciate their endeavours.

Yeah great to see them both getting through. We know have a semi-final line up similar to the one 100 years ago, bizarre.

Yesterday was a great day too for Dublin. Pure, majestic, beautiful football.

I'd say it was a quiet enough day in Omagh. Big day in armagh on the other hand!

I'd say majority of people didn't get to see it as they would have switched off after 20 mins

Ah it was a super day for the neutral.
Well done both Tipp and Cavan - fabulous joyous scenes at the end of both games.
Congrats to both.

As a neutral supporter the whole championship has been fantastic, this knockout element has really added to it, you have a bad day tough luck see you next year, today was the icing on the cake, tipp were superb and should have won by more they went back to a more direct game which had served them well in the past that goal should have been allowed imo, Cavan put in a huge 75 minutes of do or die football, they out fought Donegal and broke their spirit in one of the finest displays in the championship this year.

The same all Ireland semi-finalists 100 years on from 1920 and the same teams play each other, you couldn't write it great day for gealic football is right. I'm proud to be a GAA supporter for unique weekends like theses.

It was a very special day.

Two fantastic matches and both Tipp and Cavan deserved their wins over much fancied opponents.

I though Cavan were excellent today. They were tigerish in the tackle and never gave Donegal a chance to get into their stride.

Perhaps if Meath would have taken a lead out of Cavans book last night and played with that intensity they wouldn't have received the embarrassing thrashing they received from the Dubs.

Would love to see a Tipp/Cavan final and a bit of romance to end what has been a wretched year all round.

Written in the stars...??
You would have got some odds on this happening before Championship 2020 started.

Wonder will Waterford win the Hurling this year to change the Liam McCarthy up a bit.?

I watched all of it today. Enjoyed the tenacity of both Tipp and Cavan. Cork and donegal looked remarkably similar today in their attitude. Maybe they just didn't have the appetite for the fight that Tipp or cavan had? Every time a donegal pass went into a danger zone, there were 3 or 4 cavan lads running into shot to intercept. They kept it up for 70 minutes. incredible.

I watched donegal u21s getting beaten twice by this cavan team several years ago. hopefully we can see more of them over the years to come. Lets hope anyway.

As for tipp, they are no strangers to minor or u21 success either so this was no fluke.

Average day in my opinion
Arsenal Leeds a Dull draw
Liverpool demolishing Leicster
What was Great about it?
Jokes aside, today has only proven that a knock out champo is the way.
Split season in two by club and county
Devide league in two
Two is the real magic number!

haha no. I would much rather el clasico Dublin Mayo and a Mayo win and end that silly curse. The only year mayo can win is one with a mad pandemic and no fans

I think you could well be right.
It would not surprise me at all if Mayo win Sam, with the year that is in it.
