You are off your chops if you think we would get close to the Dubs. Tyrone is the only good/contending team we've beat in a knockout scenario since 2014.

One of the best surfaces in the country. Half way between both counties. Navan, why not?

How many full time development officers are in Dublin? Or sorry special volunteers as you Dubs like to put it. Are they professional? Semi professional players with a professional background team. When will Cork or Antrim be getting 20 million for development? It beyond a joke now. We were beat this year on a really bad day in Ballybofey. It happens but the Dub machine plays every game at home in Croker. So a semi professional team playing on the best facilities. HHHMMM sounds very professional to me.

Yea, I see no reason why they couldn't. They played Mayo v Kerry in Limerick a few years ago because of the American football. Croke Park isn't necessary when there will be no crowds. They can play the final there but Semis not as necessary. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2216 - 22/11/2020 19:39:07 2313261 Link 1 |

just for the hell of it, I am going to say yes, Cavan can do it. They have great attitude and spirit. I dont know how they are going to do it though. Donegalman (None) - Posts: 3770 - 22/11/2020 19:49:33 2313281 Link 1 |
Let's. look at the players shall we.Are they professionals? No. QED, You can hmm and haw all you want but you are. talking utter nonsense. How can a teacher be a semi-professional. Can you explain that?? Lowndes, Kilkenny, Cluxton are full time teachers. So sling all the muck you want but you are talking drivel.

They are paid for by the Dublin Clubs and Dublin GAA, we owe no one money. Some Dublin clubs have as many players as some counties.

Makes Navan more of a level playing pitch then, doesn't it? (see what I did there???)

Which is actually the problem rather than semi pro or pro talk. When you have such a high playing population with proper coaching and resources, you will get better players coming through. The best 10 in a pool of 10,000 are going to be better than the best 10 in a pool of 100, all other things being equal (which they are not). Thats simple maths.

Can we have one thread that doesn't descend into the same tired old nonsense about Dublin. Why can't we enjoy the build up to a really rare semi-final pairing JoeSoap (Donegal) - Posts: 1125 - 22/11/2020 20:15:02 2313342 Link 3 |
What are you talking about. Navan one of best in county, just no lights so would have to be at lunchtime.

The pitch got recognition for one of the best playing surfaces last year.

I agree - let's just enjoy these 2 novel semi final pairings. And who knows - maybe with the year that is in it - we could get what most neutrals would welcome - a Tipp v Cavan Final. Strange year so anything could happen. Personally I think it is great that both Tipp and Cavan have won provincial titles this year. Such a great pity that there will be no fans at either or even there today.... great celebrations for both and both fully deserved their victories today. As for Cavan - a much needed break and a weekend without a game next week for them. So batteries can be recharged a small bit. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3309 - 22/11/2020 20:34:32 2313374 Link 0 |

It's all part of winning, you need broad shoulders when you loose, but broader shoulders when you are winning.

Yep, for some perspective, I cannot recall ever seeing a team priced at 1/100 in a match at this late stage of a competition as Dublin are for this semi. Cavan are 20/1, the points spread is 14 points and I'll be walking the dog.
