Dublin playing in Croke park is a massive advantage ,they can say what they want but its true. Not saying it would stop Dublin but it would balance things out. ifindoubt (Donegal) - Posts: 114 - 22/11/2020 17:56:16 2313019 Link 1 |

The Dubs have a huge financial advantage and while you cannot expect them to turn down any revenue offered I think it's a ridiculous situation when you add up the amount of revenue from sponsorship alone before you even talk about Croke Park funding. It's a huge problem. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 6893 - 22/11/2020 18:18:36 2313076 Link 3 |
On one hand you express how irritating preaching is by others to Leinster teams and then go on to have a good old preach about Dublin, if there are hard truth going around we will take but also give them. The championship isn't destroyed, Meath just took a pasting, talk to Tipp supporters today, Cavan supporters, Cork a couple of weeks ago - ask Mayo people has that long held hope been kindled. The championship is a good live and kicking. All the dogma you are trying to argue falls on its face when you look at results in today's games and in fact through out the championship, heart, fight belief and determination won the games today. You can talk of all the structural, grassroots or financial excuses you want. Meath were/are devoid of the stuff Cavan, Tipp and Cork showed this year. I love debates like this, avoiding the uncomfortable truth that there is a monitor under the bed to blame, rather then a lack, of hunger, talent, belief and fight. Won't do you any favours ignoring it in the long run. You know we will move on from Meath tomorrow, leave you to your sorrow and wait again for the inevitable sabre rattling and false dawns that will happen again next summer. Rinse and respect, same outcome. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 3671 - 22/11/2020 18:22:45 2313086 Link 3 |

Unfortunately thats what the gap is between the Dubs and the rest of us in Leinster. The o'byrne cup has more edge to it now.

As an expirement, I would love to see Galway GAA secure a large/too large/unfair (depending on what county you are from ) amount of funding and to be confident that funding would be available for 10+ years....would allow a top class County Board CEO to be employed alongside other neccessary vital roles being filled. If the Leinster Championship is to have a future at the very least the games shouldnt be in Croke Park anymore. Maybe rather than ourselves and Meath talking about pulling out oerhaps just refuse to play in croke park against the dubs. It really is an advantage for dublin at this stage and one that is easily removed. The Dubs wouldnt have an issue travelling either. daytona11 (Kildare) - Posts: 3772 - 22/11/2020 19:30:40 2313242 Link 0 |

Have a read of this. Barrister and former Westmeath captain penning letter to county boards of Leinster encouraging them to boycott Leinster championship until GAA sort out the outrageous farce that is the championship and Dublin's funding. https://mobile.twitter.com/johnC_BL/status/1330526493538201602/photo/1 Crinigan (Meath) - Posts: 926 - 22/11/2020 20:16:37 2313344 Link 4 |
Good man, fair play to him. I don't think he's right, but I'm all for questions being asked and openness and transparency. I find his arguments a bit rudimentary to be honest. My fear is this is a self serving marketing ploy, I do however feel, if he is serious as a barrister he can legally represent a group in Leinster if they so wish, I doubt that will happen though, but I hope it does and if I was the GAA I would be looking at this as an opportunity.
