Dublin playing in Croke park is a massive advantage ,they can say what they want but its true. Not saying it would stop Dublin but it would balance things out.

Grand. Let us into Connaught or Munster for a while so.

It was a non performance

The Dubs have a huge financial advantage and while you cannot expect them to turn down any revenue offered I think it's a ridiculous situation when you add up the amount of revenue from sponsorship alone before you even talk about Croke Park funding. It's a huge problem.

And having all of the players based in Dublin which I assume they are is a huge huge advantage but that is something that isn't for them to be worrying about.

Replying To Greenfield:  "You're normally a good poster but the amount of preaching from dub$ on here about what counties should be doing is more sickening than the match last night.
Making improvements to your county ground probably isn't that important when you're handed an 80000 seater stadium for home games.
The dub$ players are in a strange position. Their so-called achievements are actually just a symptom of the greater issue which is that the GAA have destroyed the championship. If people on here think they are also due some reflected glory from it then it's a free country I suppose. Wouldn't be my thing.
The standout performers for the dub$ in the modern era are the likes of John Costello and Andy kettle. They fought hard to secure money and in fairness used it wisely.
As another poster said the east Leinster project has come too late to make any difference. Although I do acknowledge that from my experience in Meath the funding is a waste of time as the structures in place here are ridiculous. That's where full time co board officials make a massive difference."
On one hand you express how irritating preaching is by others to Leinster teams and then go on to have a good old preach about Dublin, if there are hard truth going around we will take but also give them.

The championship isn't destroyed, Meath just took a pasting, talk to Tipp supporters today, Cavan supporters, Cork a couple of weeks ago - ask Mayo people has that long held hope been kindled. The championship is a good live and kicking.

All the dogma you are trying to argue falls on its face when you look at results in today's games and in fact through out the championship, heart, fight belief and determination won the games today. You can talk of all the structural, grassroots or financial excuses you want. Meath were/are devoid of the stuff Cavan, Tipp and Cork showed this year.

I love debates like this, avoiding the uncomfortable truth that there is a monitor under the bed to blame, rather then a lack, of hunger, talent, belief and fight. Won't do you any favours ignoring it in the long run.

You know we will move on from Meath tomorrow, leave you to your sorrow and wait again for the inevitable sabre rattling and false dawns that will happen again next summer. Rinse and respect, same outcome.

How doesnt it?
In this strangest of all years there is champions for first time in long time in 3 of the 4 provinces while the 4th is won by a side winning its 10th in a row and 15th in 16 years.
I'd say something if they were losing to Dublin but tearing it up in the qualifiers but even if Dublin were knocked out early not a hope any Leinster team is winning Sam
Breezy (Limerick) - Posts: 1102 - 22/11/2020 17:52:16
We dont need a Leinster side to be winning sam. You need Leinster sides to be competitive.

Meath and Kildare are two huge counties population wise. They are far bigger than Mayo or Kerry. So there is a huge chance imho for them to do well. They have the numbers, and especially in Kildare- the money.

But how many in those counties are playing gaelic and support those counties?
Like ive a fair few cousins living in Kildare and neither they nor their kids support Kildare. And theres thousands like that.

Unfortunately thats what the gap is between the Dubs and the rest of us in Leinster. The o'byrne cup has more edge to it now.

As an expirement, I would love to see Galway GAA secure a large/too large/unfair (depending on what county you are from ) amount of funding and to be confident that funding would be available for 10+ years....would allow a top class County Board CEO to be employed alongside other neccessary vital roles being filled.
First step secured , then maybe the GDO numbers could be increased from the current 1.5 officers ( covering one of the biggest geographical counties ) to perhaps 10 or 15 ?.... full time S+C team would be helpful too, to oversee squad development from u16s upwards....perhaps all games at home as an extra incentive ? With an exclusive section behind 1 goal for our own fans ?

Or is that crazy talk/too crazy/unfair ( depending on what county you are from )... If it all happened Im sure Galway would be more than ready and happy to join the Leinster Championship in 2030.

If the Leinster Championship is to have a future at the very least the games shouldnt be in Croke Park anymore. Maybe rather than ourselves and Meath talking about pulling out oerhaps just refuse to play in croke park against the dubs. It really is an advantage for dublin at this stage and one that is easily removed. The Dubs wouldnt have an issue travelling either.

Id settle for Dublin just playing away games..
Dub fans are losing interest as much as any other county in Leinster. When Dublin started their dominance you wouldnt see Dub in my local until an hour after a game as they would have attended the game, now in recent years they would arrive in when the game is on ten minutes, maybe watch till half time, turn their backs on that tv and start watching Man u on another.
In another couple of years the crowd going to a Leinster final will fit in to Newbridge.
10 yrs after that an all Ireland final will have the same interest if the farce continues.
Dublin has to split, probably in four, even then i think those "four" would have to play off between themselves before the winner only being allowed enter Leinster/all ireland. Their finances split in four would still be multiples of any other county.
Either that or let Dublin keep the Leinster title and let the rest compete in a tier 2 Leinster with the option of the winner challenging Dublin if they wish or going straight to last 16 without receiving a 20 pt demoralising hammering away to them.

Have a read of this.

Barrister and former Westmeath captain penning letter to county boards of Leinster encouraging them to boycott Leinster championship until GAA sort out the outrageous farce that is the championship and Dublin's funding.

Good man, fair play to him. I don't think he's right, but I'm all for questions being asked and openness and transparency. I find his arguments a bit rudimentary to be honest.

My fear is this is a self serving marketing ploy, I do however feel, if he is serious as a barrister he can legally represent a group in Leinster if they so wish, I doubt that will happen though, but I hope it does and if I was the GAA I would be looking at this as an opportunity.
