Mickey Harte - Next Antrim Manager?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Antrim GAA should go and get Mickey Harte and do what Anthony Daly did for Limerick hurling. The sleeping Giant of Ulster needs a kick start from under age up and Mickey would be the perfect figure head.

Would be a fantastic appointment for any county.

Have a feeling we'll never see him manage another county tho. Maybe a club team or a behind-the-scenes role. Will walk into a job if he wants to.

Would be a very welcome move though looking at our Modus Operandi I don't think I'd be sticking any money on it.

I'm treading lightly here, but surely 'The sleeping Giant of Ulster' with regards to football is Cavan?

I potential population numbers I would of thought Antrim.

Both Dublin and Limerick done a tremendous job developing their potential by restructering their under age.

Just thought it would give a massive boost to a county if some one with the stature of Micky Hare could do something similar for Antrim.Go into schools and clubs etc. he would get a massive buy in.

Just a thought thats all

I agree with you, Mickey going to Antrim could do for them what Micko done for Kildare and Laois and Paidi done for Westmeath. Antrim hurling seem to be getting things together again, if the footballers were also competitive by the time the new Casement opens it would be brilliant for the city and the game nationally.

If it happened I'd be filled with enthusiasm and no doubt the rest of the county would too. It would mean a lot of stay away players returning. New ideas. Higher standards set and for the first time in my lifetime some genuine belief that we maybe could achieve something down the line even if its only through the leagues or a provincial championship. Whether or not Mickey feels its worth his while or our county board even speak to him is another story of course. They'd be mad not to at least enquire though now that this potential rare opportunity is currently on the table.

It would be great to see him involved with Antrim in ANY capacity to be fairly honest. We ARE a sleeping giant and one that the GAA has shamefully neglected for decades. I'll see if the DUP can kick start the campaign MICKEY SAYS YES.

It's a possibility as I don't think Mickey would manage a Sam contender and please Antrim posters stunt take offence. If he took over a team that has had recent success in Ulster, e.g Monaghan, there would be expectation of silverware and anything less would be seen as failure. Getting Antrim up the division's and winning a few Ulster Championship games would be seen as a success.

Enda McGinley will be the next Antrim manager.

I think Mickey would find it very hard to manage against Tyrone in Ulster,
look at what Micko did after he finished with Kerry. Micky Harte would be some man to take into a county with a good crop of young players coming through. I'd say we haven't seen the last of the man anyway, whoever follows him in Tyrone has big boots to fill.

Louth and Sligo are looking for new managers.

i don't see the GAA investing even a fraction of what they have done in Dublin/Abroad to promote the game in the Belfast /antrim area given the populus. They should be promoting/ investing more in the counties that are currently struggling.

I read its between McGinley and Kevin Madden ex Antrim player. McKinley has Stephen O Neill as part of his backroom. Madden has Tony McEntee
