I don't think anyone can credibly say you're not in the final on merit. Both wins were hard fought and the Cavan conveyor belt of talent is starting to pay dividends. Graham is a good manager who has persisted even when talented players were opting out. I admire him. Maybe Sunday will be your day, that's the beauty of the contest.

Think some of you are wanting a row at this stage. I see one person commenting a little over zealously, that's literally it. I expect Donegal to win but wouldn't be shocked if we lost; no Ulster final is easy.

I would start packing..

No Ulster final is easy? 2018 had Donegal 2-18 Fermanagh 0-12. Last year was very lopsided as well. I used to think Kerry supporters were the masters of this type of stuff. Of the last 11 Ulster finals, 3 of them have been competitive. It will be 3 from 12 after Sunday.

Hindsight is a great thing isn't it? Nobody in the run-up to an Ulster final expects it to be easy; that's a recipe for disaster.

Like most threads on this forum it ends up being ruined by a few eejits posting ridiculous stuff. The comments made by Bonner and Mickey Graham before the match is just a sideshow, no real importance. I gave up on pre-match interviews years ago, waste of time. Two max I would say Joe. Think some of our Cavan friends have being rightly hooked and certainly overreacting to the two.

Interestingly, Ulster are the only province who saw fit to keep the final away from the most suitable venue to prevent it granting a team home advantage. Couldn't be upsetting the "great" men from the hills. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4135 - 19/11/2020 19:37:01 2311525 Link 1 |
I'm done with this topic. When ONE of my fellow county men just comes on here to wind up Cavan posters and the conversation on the game ends up in petty jibes I think I'll take my comments to another forum that might discuss the game itself. Best of luck to both teams on Sunday. Hope it's a good final. Tir Conaill Abu (Donegal) - Posts: 1635 - 19/11/2020 19:38:07 2311526 Link 3 |
Don't go near the Meath v Dublin Leinster Final Topic. It's a bit feisty on there as well.

Meath will beat Dublin...

For all the whining about one Donegal poster on here and disrespect, it's the Cavan men keeping it going with the daft remarks.

That's the spirit, Meath vs Cavan in a couple of weeks, it should be a great game.

The next time Meath will play Cavan will most likely be in div2 in 2022.

Im really enjoying this thread. While I miss the fact Kerry are gone sometimes as aneutral one can enjoy the banter and not get upset at any of the jibes or needle.Cavan are in the ulster final on merit and beat a fancied Monaghan team on route also.Obviously Breffni park would have suited Cavan better but im sure they still confident. However I just think Donegal have too much for them. However im sure Donegal will take nothing for granted with Bonner and the very astute Rochford. In 1992 Donegal won their first all Ireland outplaying ahotly fancied Dublin team in the final. They had a dogfight with Mayo in the semi but their toughest game was in the first round v Cavan which I think went to a replay. In 1997 Cavan won their last ulster titled managed brilliantly that year by Mairtin Mc Hugh so Cavan and Donegal have a lot in common. On the managers comments.Lots of managers nowadays try to get that edge with referees beforehand by putting ideas in their heads.maybe they copying Jim Gavin and Eamonn Fitzmaurice s template who did it a few times. On the Murphy issue.imo yes he can definitely take care of himself but I do think he s the victim most of the time tbh.I have seen him being pulled and dragged a lot and I do thinkalot of the big men find it harder to get frees.I saw in with Donaghy for years with Kerry.I saw in with Corkery with Cork.Aidan oshea Mayo and Connolly Dublin.on a few occasions I don't know how Murphykept his cool tbh.I look forward to the game and love watching Gearoid Mc Kiernan too.Best of luck to both teams. That hasn't happened since the 1950's. We have a Meath man in our ranks on Sunday which is a good omen for us as we had one in 1997 when we last won Ulster. (I'll clutch at any straw at this stage to get us past the yellow peril). Where will we play this old classic - Carnaross or Virginia? ?

Any word of the weather forecast for the game? Im guessing its going to be a slippy ball. Donegalman (None) - Posts: 3770 - 20/11/2020 09:52:14 2311625 Link 0 |
Looks like it actually might be ok. Cold but dry and a gentle breeze. The Norwegian weather channel is usually pretty accurate. https://www.yr.no/place/United_Kingdom/Northern_Ireland/Armagh/ Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 7075 - 20/11/2020 10:07:01 2311629 Link 0 |
You demanded respect for Donegal in your post on the previous page and in the very next sentence disrespected both Cavan & Monaghan and I assume you are adding Meath here. When I saw the last comment, I wondered what age is this lad? Clearly, you're the funniest person you know. TG the other Donegal supporters are here to give their thoughts about the final. Meath Cavan games are usually great occasions, regardless of which division they meet. Competitive games with huge respect. I expect the Ulster final next Sunday will be no different with Donegal to edge it. Cavan are missing some of their best players but appear to be a better team this year, if that makes sense? I think it will be closer than last year as a competition and for one, am really looking forward to it. round_ball_99 (Meath) - Posts: 15 - 20/11/2020 10:21:46 2311633 Link 0 |
