This is a myth about donegal under a high ball - been spouted out for years. Wat matches have we lost under high balls ?? eunans4ever (Donegal) - Posts: 1173 - 17/11/2020 23:11:39 2310902 Link 0 |

Let's face it folks. Cavan are lucky to be in this at all. If they had played anyone of Donegals standard they wouldn't have had a hope in hell of getting back into those games they went so badly behind in. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 1647 - 18/11/2020 08:45:03 2310921 Link 3 |
You are correct. . .. If we didn't win all those games, we could well be out of the championship by now. Mind-blowing insight right there folks! cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4135 - 18/11/2020 09:22:39 2310927 Link 6 |
Well I think for Donegal it's definitely a case of forewarned is forearmed. I don't think there will be any complacency given what we've seen of Cavan in the last few weeks. They have showed a formidable spirit and no little skill in getting to this final and that needs to be respected. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 7075 - 18/11/2020 09:58:12 2310948 Link 2 |
Yeah, I wouldn't read that as arrogant Lockjaw. . . I don't think anyone sees Cavan winning this without a serious improvement from us (which I do expect) and a pretty sharp drop in form from yourselves (which I don't expect). It was fairly one sided last year, with the final scoreline flattering Cavan, and I think Donegal have improved since then. I'm not sure Cavan have. Lads like Moynagh and McVitty have been replaced by young, inexperienced guys and Mackey hasn't been replaced at all. On the flip-side, Mickey Graham has had another (interrupted) season with this team, and he's got something special about him, as shown with Mullinalaghta. So I do think we may have something up our sleeves which will ask a question of Donegal's ability to pivot mid-game. If we avoid a start like we have had v Monaghan and Down, or like Armagh had v Donegal, then who knows. Football is a strange game and it's been a strange year! cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4135 - 18/11/2020 10:11:41 2310954 Link 1 |
Catch is correct - Donegal will win this game easily... different level to Cavan. I see Mickey Graham is doing his best to stir it up... Firstly about the referring decisions and now - "I would say it is probably the other way around," said Graham to BBC, countering the claim that Murphy gets no protection. "The other players do not get much protection from Michael Murphy. A big man like that, well able to look after himself." I suppose Mickey has got to do what he has got to do... countering the claim that Murphy gets no protection Not Mickey who started to stir things. The other players do not get much protection from Michael Murphy. See last year's final where he "challenged" Raymond Galligan. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4135 - 18/11/2020 10:21:31 2310959 Link 2 |
Yeah no doubt about it Mickey Graham has something as a manager. I hope that regardless of what happens Sunday that he stays on and develops Cavan further. It would be great if he could get the likes of McVeety and Moynagh back, as well as any other players that should be in consideration. It would be great for football in general if the likes of Cavan, Derry and Down etc climb the league ranks again and the Ulster championship would improve as a whole. Murphy is more sinned against than sinned... picking out a single incident versus the multiple the other way, does not make your point valid. Look Mickey is doing exactly what every other underdog manger would do. Hoping to gain a much needed boost or advantage before the game starts. Cavan are lucky to be in the Final imo and will be no match for Donegal at the weekend. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3309 - 18/11/2020 10:31:43 2310963 Link 1 |
I agree - and McVeety is a massive loss. He is some player. But is due to be back next year afaik... And it would be nice to see Cavan win an Ulster title soon, but it wont be this year I am afraid to say. Problem will be Donegal have such a strong team now and Tyrone will be better next year also. I also think Monaghan will fall back a bit to be honest. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3309 - 18/11/2020 10:38:44 2310966 Link 0 |

But it was Bonner who poked that fire first, and with people now rounding on Mickey Graham for giving a response he was asked for, you could say it's a distraction Cavan don't need. It is Bonner looking for an advantage (which he's entitled to do) and Graham just trying to respond to that. Killian Clarke and Murphy had a good, clean battle last year. Nothing provoked Murphy into doing what he did. Conor McManus gets plenty of abuse, but he wasn't getting any in our game this year and still saw fit to goad Galligan after scoring his goal. Galligan had the last laugh. Maybe Bonner's comments will back-fire, who knows. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4135 - 18/11/2020 10:47:47 2310970 Link 1 |
Forgot about that, the high knee. I've lots of time for Murphy, but he should have been done for that one...

Well done on taking that spin on my post 10 brains. True Caavan intellectual that you are. Let me explain it for you , or at least try to. Not sure there is much point though with you as you're a bit like that other Fly gasson. Must be a Cavan thing. The point was that Cavan are relatively poor in comparison to Donegal and would not have reached this stage had the opposition been up to their standard. Enjoy the run up as it's going to be the best part. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 1647 - 18/11/2020 11:48:31 2310991 Link 2 |
I assume most neutrals will be shouting for Cavan here, as underdogs. Can't see an upset here though. Donegal are the only realistic contenders to put it up to Dublin, so would need to be winning comfortably. TomReilly (Monaghan) - Posts: 11 - 18/11/2020 11:50:18 2310992 Link 0 |
Yeah it's a Cavan thing, really doubling down on the the ignorance there. Be a good Yank, turn around and go home.

On Murphy, honestly I'd say this regardless of the upcoming Ulster final but he gives as good as he gets so very little sympathy from me no matter who Donegal are playing. Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 11690 - 18/11/2020 12:25:14 2311013 Link 1 |
