Replying To kanu:  "Never said it was premeditated. Watch it again. Galligan is in his line of vision. He realises he's on the wrong side of McKiernan so he does Galligan. Might not have meant to do the damage he did but he knew he was going to catch him"
I was watching it and was expecting "an intervention" from a linesman, umpires were a bit far away and don't have to be referees. He did make contact and so was lucky to escape a card of some sort. Thankfully the recipient, Thomas Galligan, went on to have an absolute horse of a game. As gutsy a performance as we have seen for years. As regards black cards, the poor outsider rarely get the rub of the green from referees. Not saying it's intentional but they appear to think that the favourites do things a little better.

Replying To benjyyy:  "The McGonagle incident was completely accidental. He doesn't 'have a glance', that's just him realising what's going on as he only had intentions of following his man. There was no way it was pre-meditated. Any supposed movement he made was reflex as he had a split second to react. You don't intend to hurt someone in a split second."
Maybe not, but in a split second you can instinctively try avoid a a dangerous collision with an opponents head. He didn't.

Noone knows but himself. Lads calling his character into question on here isn't good - that he deliberately went out to 'do' Thomas Galligan? Personally I can't see it, I don't think he has that badness in him. He's a big physical player for sure and isn't afraid of throwing himself about. But deliberately elbowing someone to the head is another category entirely.

In a split second... that basically undermines your argument, hindsight is a great thing.

As you said the only one that knows for sure is himself but IMO it was accidental.

Bitter much? No whining out of Cavan. Happy with the venue for the semi (although ye whined about the final venue) and all Graham and a few players did was answer a question when asked. Official Cavan statement shows all are fine with the venue. An opinion in an interview is hardly whining. However if you think that the ref wasn't worth a moan about, then I don't know what to say. He was poor. And a hit causing a blood sub and requiring stitching up on the sideline is hardly a bump...

I think it was accidental too. He intended to give Galligan a bit of a rub going past but didn't bank on Galligan turning his head toward him and got him on the eye instead of his ear. It was notable that none of the Donegal players came over to see how he was - a pity.

I'd be embarrassed to show my face on here after all your talk last week. But here you are, cringingly bitter
