Cavan had a look of a team that were not going to be beat. Emotion certainly helped them though they mixed this with very good tactical play as well. I don't think Donegal were prepared at all for what Cavan brought. They weren't at the pitch at the start and when they did get the run on them in the middle if first half needed to push on and maybe take the emotion away from Cavan. I also don't want to be too critical as it does a disservice to Cavan. Cavan made Donegal look ordinary. I do think gallen would have helped so it's a pity he was injured. An absolutely class day of football. Delighted for Cavan and Tipp. Sort of Deja vu from 2004 for me. Morty (Westmeath) - Posts: 171 - 22/11/2020 18:51:34 2313152 Link 0 |

In terms of that mark sligo joe on BBC they were saying that the ball was half blocked by a Donegal back as it was kicked in, and the rule says it must be a clean ball in? However I didn't notice any half block myself to be honest.

I always new Cavan had great tradition, listening to the older generations stories of the great Cavan teams of the '30s, '40s and '50s and their battles with Kerry and Galway, but why did it take Donegal so long to get their first Ulster Title!

Congratulations to Cavan, what a performance. I must admit I did not see that one coming. GeniusGerry (Kerry) - Posts: 1957 - 22/11/2020 19:00:53 2313171 Link 1 |
Cavan should have won by more. They were brilliant and fearless tonight, and outclassed Donegal. Absolutely delighted fo Daith (Kildare) - Posts: 1126 - 22/11/2020 19:01:10 2313172 Link 0 |
Whilst your congrats to Cavan are no doubt 100% genuine [ great day to be fair ] your last sentence might contain an element of self-interest ;-) I'm afraid if Mayo are to win Sam this year they will have to beat Dublin in the final - assuming they overcome Tipp. But who in Mayo or Cavan wouldn't like a repeat of the short whistle final. timmyhogan (UK) - Posts: 100 - 22/11/2020 19:06:02 2313182 Link 0 |

Congratulations to Cavan, well done to all. The disallowed goal should have stood and not sure what the Ref was doing dishing out a yellow cards -was he colour blind!. That rule should be deleted from rule book as it is not being applied correctly and could have cost Cavan the game. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2189 - 22/11/2020 19:14:14 2313205 Link 0 |

That we have, but we're all just passionate fans at the end of the day. Tonight is our night (and Tipp's), and I've a feeling Sam will stay in Dublin this year, but it's moments like this, for whatever county is lucky enough to enjoy them, that makes our games so so special. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4135 - 22/11/2020 19:35:11 2313255 Link 1 |
Sour comment. What today should show is how great it is to have competitions that there is actually a chance of a variety of winners. Do you think Meath, Laois Westmeath or Kildare couldn't beat Cavan or Tipperary. It was fantastic to see these underdogs rise to the challenge but don't be so deluded as to think that they'd have a snowballs hope in hell of winning a provincial title if they were against the Dubs

The more I think about it the more amazing Cavan's win becomes. Their path to the final was a serious minefield, they negotiated their way through it 3 times without losing even a finger in the process, just brilliant. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 7772 - 22/11/2020 19:43:50 2313269 Link 4 |
