If you ever get the chance, the corporate boxes are a good experience, I've been in them in Croker a handful of times mostly on the Hogan side and once in the Canal end. I've no idea how much they cost, as the times I snagged a ticket I was invited via friends. Free gargle (not sure if that depends on the box), decent seats and a chicken Gojan and cocktail sausage at half time, they ask you want you want to drink at half time and have it waiting for you when you come in. Other weird things is coming in at half time and you can see the Sunday game analysis on a TV, then back out for the second half. There is usually a few ex players knocking around to as guests and you can have some good talk and craic with them once, your sound. Tip for the top give the girls getting your drinks as a score at the start and another at the end, they'll look after you superbly and never let you run dry, their good craic too. I'm not sure what they cost, they are all company boxes but in sure it's 10'sk a year. It's a nice expierence on a rare occasion, but in all honesty I wouldn't want it every game, I'd prefer drinking the well cooled bottles knocking about Drumcondra with the gang, hitting the game and being down with our own, if I'm being honest being up there, it's not the same. But free beer is free beer. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 3671 - 14/11/2020 01:20:43 2308592 Link 0 |
why? they get used a handful of times per year, and sit idle. you might get value for corporate entertainment in croke park, where people are happy to go for the experience of a big game, whether or not they are interested in the game. i have gotten a couple of invites in my life to a corporate box from a drinks supplier.it was great but at least 50% of those who were there had either no interest in the game and were there because it was a big game and a day of free drink. you won't get that same appeal for any game in any other ground outside of croke park.i dont see a corporate box in wexford park or thurles or limerick having any similar appeal and would be another big gaa white elephant. perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3841 - 14/11/2020 12:53:27 2308661 Link 0 |
The grounds can be used for far more than match days even in smaller towns and areas if you have appropriate facilities. Ive only been to a match once in a corporate area and that was in croke park a few years back for a tipp game. wouldnt say most who were there had little interest in the game. have worked in bars in corporate areas at games in the aviva. and the fans were very much interested in the game. especially the soccer games. you very much would get people to get into the games. you would get more money into the game as these tickets can be sold for more. I was up there once for 09 quarter final Kerry v Dublin in canal end. Enjoyable yes for sure but I think I'd prefer to ve there for a neutral game and down in the ordinary seats when my county is playing. Have been in the premium a bit too but not for semis or finals. Yes always ex players hovering around there too.

Correct Perfect. At least Croke Park you have a few concerts and a lot more games than say Cork. Also I agree from my experience even in the premium level (only corporate once) that a certain amount have absolutely no interest in the games and are there more for a day out.

Cork will be getting more concerts i imagine. They help make a lot for stadiums especially when you wont have games there every week.

This is a crazy suggestion, you would bring fire and damnation on the GAA. NI is a complete disaster in relation to Covid a 1000 people travelling up there would be a disaster waiting to happen for GAA

And 14 day quarantine for all in a disused internment museum.

Yes it's wrong but funny enough in the gaa games there are certainly more people going than should be. There are dieticians etc going as part of backroom team. The gaa should only allow a certain number of backroom team in. Some counties are bringing 60 70 people with them. Also some ex players are getting into games on the pretence of reporters as they write newspaper articles. The only people allowed in should be commentators Co commentators and the analysists on the day. Players that write articles should not be left in and it shows total disrespect to the rest of us that can't go. They can watch it on TV like the rest of us.

Really surprised to see Dublin playing in Croker tomorrow after the GAA's big spin in recent years saying that the only reason Dublin play in croker is because the Dubs put bums in seats. There will no bums in the seats with covid so why is this still going ahead? I am genuinely interested to know if there is a reason? Leinster final fair enough (Just about) but tomorrow game in croker is a joke! And yes the semis and Final i think should be in croker.... letterkennyGuy (Donegal) - Posts: 111 - 14/11/2020 15:53:49 2308729 Link 2 |

They had to turn on the lights in Breffni today in the second half. The game started at 1.30. I don't Clones would be an option. Ulster final won't be in Clones this year either. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2216 - 14/11/2020 16:38:37 2308757 Link 0 |
Flights from the USA were not the cause of spikes here. And you can't stop flights completely. We need them for exports/imports. Look at the cases in NI again today ffs.
