Donegal V Armagh

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Cannot see Armagh getting anywhere near Donegal, defence is reckless as it showed against Roscommon and Derry at times and no offence to those 2 but they our nowhere the standard of Donegal.

I apprite the Donegal lads on here will play there chances down a bit, but if they can keep a clean bill of health they will win Ulster and have a serious pop at the Dubs.

It's not cute hoorism to respect a good manager and a great player. If he's so bad, why are Armagh in division one next year and Meath in division two?"
Well Meath beat Armagh last year in league to get promoted. Remember we topped div 2 ahead of Donegal?? Anyway away you go.

Replying To JoeSoap:  "Look in 2013 we were going for three in a row in Ulster and supremely confident, we beat Tyrone first day out and were reigning All-Ireland champions, a bit of arrogance or complacency or whatever you want to call it. That year a coming Monaghan side beat us off the park in Clones, 6 points was the margin but could have been more, they were miles better than us and I think there was definitely a bit of taking your eye off the ball, nobody had touched us in Ulster for 2 years and that Monaghan side really came of age that day.

We've been burned before as supporters is all I'm saying, it's not really cute hoorism because we'd all say that we have the better footballers overall at the moment and should be beating Armagh if we've any aspirations for Sam. But as I say, we've been burned before. Armagh are a coming side, just like Monaghan in 2013. They'll hold no fear of us either, the supremacy Armagh held over Donegal in the 00's casts a long shadow.

I think their defence is too porous to stop our attack but they have the forwards to really hurt us, we've been a bit open ourselves and more clinical sides will take the goal chances offered up."
Played them last year and didn't see a great improvement. Didn't take much notice of div 2 this year but it didn't look that strong.

We won Division Two that year, beating you three times in one season. We beat you again this year at a canter. Armagh will be alongside us in division one next year and hopefully they can go one better than Meath and win a game. Now there, away you go!

That's my point. It's like saying I'm worried about playing Wicklow. I'm not. They have been promoted we have been relegated they have improved under new management, were close to us last twice we played. That all been said they won't get within a asses roar of Meath. If we are serious about challenging Dublin then we have to be putting them away. And if Donegal are serious about winning all ire then in no way should the be anything other then expecting a convincing win against Armagh. I actually think Donegal will face tougher challenges in Ulster further down the road.

For the first time in my memory Donegal have a very strong subs bench & Declan can make any changes he wants with confidence.
It might not be a huge issue in Ulster but should Donegal progress to play Dublin it will be a huge difference from previous years.

I'd say you will take a bit more notice next year.

If we beat Meath anymore - we get to keep them

Agree Muckross it is really encouraging to see the options coming through, and when you consider as well that McFadden-Ferry isn't available and would be a starter, it's great to see. The likes of Mogan as well to have slotted straight into seniors and seemingly a nailed on starter now, these aspects are really great.

We've come a long way from Rory Gallagher subbing off Anthony Thompson in an Ulster final, ignoring Leo McLoone and bringing Thompson back on!

And if this year we would have won it as we actually topped the table. As for superior ? Ahh please come back to me when Donegal have more than two all ire. One won playing what can only be described as a afront to the gaa and football. Run along lad.

As opposed to assaulting their way to All Irelands?

Yes, 2-11 in an All Ireland is an affront to Gaelic Football. Players like Michael Murphy, Karl Lacey and Colm McFadden were an affront to football... thanks for the history lesson too by the way, you enjoy the TG4 re-runs of the glory days and I'll live in the present.

Don't worry they started showing donegals two wins too. So you will have plenty to watch. As gearing Armagh proves without doubt that Dublin or Kerry would destroy Donegal for the foreseeable future.

The topic is Donegal v Armagh.

Meath are, just as they have been for the last 20 years, irrelevant.

Destroy Donegal, you're some craic... I know Dublin are used to destroying your lot now for donkey's years but we will give them a game if it happens. We drew with Kerry in championship last year so I doubt there will be much destruction, I would expect close games if we get that far. No fear of Armagh but I would be more wary of them than Meath, that's for sure.
