5 bad wides for the Dubs late on but Cork deserved their victory. 1-25 to 0-22 Crummey & Dillon were snuffed out all game. Danny and EOD and Conor Burke were excellent for us but the Cork backs were in control throughout. EOD is an absolute colossus...! Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3309 - 07/11/2020 17:27:42 2305862 Link 2 |
No surprise, comfortable win for Cork as expected.

Beaten in almost every line. Lost individual battles and weren't able to get ball into the forwards. Cork played us very well, congratulations to them they needed a result and performance after last week and got it. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 3671 - 07/11/2020 17:28:13 2305864 Link 3 |
Should have brought on David Tracey to beef up the forward line... Cork backs were in full control. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3309 - 07/11/2020 17:29:36 2305865 Link 1 |
Great display by Laois. Pity they didn't get the win.

Very poor touch, dreadful ball out of defence, over hit, under hit. Ball skills in backline not up to this level. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4434 - 07/11/2020 18:14:48 2305881 Link 0 |
I'm not sure it would've made a difference. The ball wasn't going in around the square at all. Lads hitting efforts wide when they shouldve been working it in low or even high into the square. It looked almost as though Dublin had accepted defeat and were happy to chip away at the lead towards the end.

Dublin are always going to be the nearly men of Hurling. Going round in circles year after year. Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 979 - 07/11/2020 18:55:21 2305889 Link 1 |
Harsh but true....

While I agree with you 100% I hope they stick together and keep trying. They're not far off and they will make a break through.

Ah look its always easy to write off a team after a loss but I think Dubs will be in the mix again shortly.A few tweaks here and there and who knows. I honestly think it will happen for them sooner rather than later. I admit they seem to be gioing backwards a little the last few years but that can change again. I remember Clare being spoken of the same way before 95.

Absolutely, as hurling fans we'd love to see Dublin win something. They never kicked on from 2013 which is a shame. There's an awful lot of talented players there but they just seem to lack the belief.

Cuala made the breakthrough twice in a row I believe so it can happen.

Probably have a better chance than Trump has in 2020 or 2024! Cork were very good today, and Robbie O Flynn excelled. Weather was better and these Cork players game was suited to that! Roll on Cork and best of luck to Dublin in future. No such good wishes for Donald J Chump

The only time the Dubs were really competitive was under Daly. They weren't the finished article but they were dangerous. The Ger Cunningham term in charge was a disaster for them and it went downhill and hasn't really recovered. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 1647 - 08/11/2020 08:30:24 2305990 Link 1 |
Sure we have 1.5 mill footballers, i call for a motion to give 100k to the hurlers! TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 3671 - 08/11/2020 10:26:56 2306011 Link 2 |
Fully agree. It knocked them right back after the brilliant foundations laid by Daly

I think a lot of that has to do with Daly instilling belief into them. Especially Daly coming from a background in Clare where they were being hammered by everyone before loughnane took over them and he in turn hammered self belief into them. Then Get Cunningham comes in a kicked a lot of their good Hurlers into touch.
