Don't know, need VAR for that one. To late for the Irish News results section anyway.

Replying To kevin03:  "That's one thing I noticed in the league game and the recent game. Donegal shouting when Morgan was taking a kick out or during frees. Really hate it when people do that.

It's clearly a rehearsed tactic by Donegal but without the fans to drown it out it puts them in a bad light."
If players can't deal with 15 opponents doing a bit of shouting, how can they deal with 85,000 in Croker!

Unfortunately this thread has gone downhill fast. Both Brennan and McKiernan should be embarrassed by the incident. Other than that particular flashpoint I thought both teams behaved themselves, after all it was a knockout championship match played in atrocious conditions so there could have been a lot of flare ups. Every team nowadays seem to use the dark arts which is disappointing. However supporters only tend to see what the opposition did wrong lol.

True, time to put it to bed, Armagh up next, no point looking in the rear view mirror too long, I have every confidence we can beat Armagh but we will have to start a lot better than we did against Tyrone and not give away any easy goals this time. McGeeney will have them well primed.

Well said. We are all guilty of rose tinted glasses at times.

Replying To Crinigan:  "There are hard men in Meath it's true. I recall 1996 when a gang of teenagers physically dominated the best of your county. Rather than take your beating like men you continue to moan about it 24 years later.

Personal insults, spitting, diving, horrible cynical football, sectarian attitude of your supporters who make every ground they visit toxic, no class from players on and off the pitch.... very few people disappointed Tyrone are out of the championship. Like the Republic itself, it's all the richer for your absence."
They are shocking comments towards any County. The game you refer to was deliberate targeting and taking out of key Tyrone players who had run amok against Meath weeks previously in a challenge game. McDermotts tackle on Canavan one of the worst ever on one of the greatest players ever. There weren't too many teenagers in that team either, a few at most. Of course Tyrone know how to play football and consistently have the players who can play. When the toughest All Ireland ever won with possibly the greatest forward line seen in Croke Park (even noted by Mr O'Rourke in one of his recent columns) is Tyrone 2005 then they can hold their heads high. As for Kerry, the Brazil of Gaelic Football, Tadhg Kennellys take out of Nicholas Murphy and O'Mahonys theatrics to Donacha O'Connor's challenge are standouts respectively. Dublin have a few prime examples also - and simply listing them both as they're the most successful counties. And I can assure you no Altar Boy ever played for Donegal either. But there was clear labelling of Tyrone from traditional quarters of the GAA since they emerged as a consistent and permanent force in football in the 2000s - we can't beat you, don't like your audacity to win three All Ireland's in a decade so we will come at you this way. And it started after the day of the swarm in the 2003 semi final. The Republic will be no better or worse with Tyrone in it.

Totally concur with this. Yes, they are our neighbours and rivals but those comments are shocking and I'm not sure how that post made it through..

I still recall that semi final in 1996 and the targeting of Tyrone players was brutal that day from Meath. Tyrone has some light players on the field and they were assaulted as I recall on occasion.

The Tyrone team of the 00s was one of the best to ever play the game and clearly rattled a lot of people in southern media and the fact Kerry couldn't beat them didn't suit a lot of agendas. They will always be a great team though; flair, grit and full of football.

Excellent post and well worded. As a Kerryman I was disgusted at Kennelly hit on Murphy in 09 after he admitted he did it on purpose. Many in Kerry felt same way and many refused to buy his book cos of his comment. He later said he did nt mean it but the damage was done. Also I was very disappointed with Ó Mahonys dive v Ó Connor in 08 semi. What you say is so true. I've seen players from Dublin do it and many other counties. It's definitely not exclusive to Tyrone. I do agree with Ó Rourke comments on SG though that it's not very sportsman like and it's not the manly thing to do.

Sláinte, DonegalAtlantic. Donegal for Sam, if not then our other neighbours Armagh.

Thanks. Heard it suggested on local radio but haven't had a chance to look closely at the replays.

Armagh will be your sternest test alright but after that yous are miles ahead of the likes of Cavan,Antrim,Fermanagh and Down

You can move ball from one hand to the other ONCE as long as you don't throw it.
