Having been watching a lot of games recently, the thought struck me, why do GAA managers dress so horrendously on the sideline ? Usually it's under armour, polo shirt, hoodie, bib, and wooly or baseball hat. What's wrong with a decent shirt and jumper like Pep or Arteta in the soccer ? I think Micko used to wear a shirt and jumper back in the day. To top it off then, they try to look professional by plugging in countless wire and earpieces. It's a wonder Joycer wasnt electrocuted the last day he had so many wires. Malonemagic (Laois) - Posts: 668 - 28/10/2020 20:24:09 2302634 Link 0 |
Ah it's about comfort really. Years ago Micko used to wear nice trousers a shirt and v necked jumper but in his later years he started wearing tracksuit bottoms. John Maughan was the first I recall wearing shorts on the sideline. Maybe I'll ask Mike Quirke to dress like James Bond lol

I'm sure I'd give a f**k if I was a manager, only thing that would concern me is performance. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 7772 - 28/10/2020 22:05:19 2302677 Link 9 |
With the weather being so cold and miserable a suit would hardly keep you warm. Also GAA managers don't have the luxury of retreating to the heated seats in the dugout to warm their tush!!! Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 979 - 29/10/2020 09:24:18 2302729 Link 0 |

Yeah, because wearing decent outfit seriously inhibits performance. The irony is that the same GAA folk consider anything less than a three piece suit as being under dressed if appearing on the Sunday Game.

They get those suits from shops that want to advertise them. Eamon O'Hara's Twitter has more suits than Louis Copeland.
