Fair play to Cavan pushing this to extra time. Monaghan supporters must be disgusted by the negative tactics in the second half. Trying to hold on to a 6 or 7 point lead for an entire half is utter nonsense. Forpucksake (UK) - Posts: 103 - 31/10/2020 14:59:24 2303324 Link 2 |
Some great point kicking in that second half from Cavan. They were far the hungrier team in the second half. All the good work done by Malachy O'Rourke the last few years set back by Banty's negative ways. mintyfresh (Westmeath) - Posts: 55 - 31/10/2020 15:07:08 2303330 Link 2 |
Dreadful stuff from Monaghan in second half. Banty will get a lot of the blame and rightfully so but players really lost their way out on the field and you'll win nothing if you haven't got players who can adapt and manage a game you have in the bag. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 1647 - 31/10/2020 15:13:58 2303337 Link 1 |
Listening on radio,Cavan fought back well in normal time, must have been a bad miss for McManus with that last chance to win it in normal time, pity it's not on reg tv. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 1076 - 31/10/2020 15:19:39 2303340 Link 1 |
Brilliant stuff from Cavan, delighted for them, that really was an El Classico!! Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 1076 - 31/10/2020 15:37:15 2303349 Link 2 |
Wow, balls of steel by both keepers. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 5828 - 31/10/2020 15:38:57 2303352 Link 4 |
Well done Cavan. Feel so sorry for Monaghan supporters having to watch that. Banty should be shown the door for that. Those tactics have just got exactly what they deserve Forpucksake (UK) - Posts: 103 - 31/10/2020 15:39:48 2303355 Link 2 |
Enjoyable game, didn't think Cavan had it in them to come back but fair play to them. McManus' four misses at the end of normal time were crucial though, twice he had a man free in a better position MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13145 - 31/10/2020 15:40:13 2303357 Link 3 |
Wow what a finish. Fully deserved win for Cavan and they deserved to win by more. Monaghan were diabolical from half time on. As I said here during the week they had a shocking result drawing last week against a poor Meath team and that form continued into today. Well done Cavan sourmilk93 (Roscommon) - Posts: 565 - 31/10/2020 15:40:58 2303358 Link 1 |
Cant believe dat we where so bad in dat second half its is shocking to c tryin to hold on to a 7 point lead for 35min wat was banty think Lad79 (Monaghan) - Posts: 19 - 31/10/2020 15:44:14 2303363 Link 1 |
Well done Cavan, that's got to hurt Monaghan who only have themselves to blame. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 7772 - 31/10/2020 15:45:26 2303365 Link 9 |
What a finish to the game, great points by Beggan and Galligan to win the match, also the Cavan no. 5 (can't think of his name) kicked a peach to level up the game in normal time. Htaem (Meath) - Posts: 8583 - 31/10/2020 15:45:35 2303366 Link 8 |
WHAT a game! My heart rate is still up! I didn't think we'd win it before the match but delighted to be proven wrong, though it was some battle. TheBlackDeath (Cavan) - Posts: 49 - 31/10/2020 15:51:47 2303374 Link 1 |

Mc Manus misses when pressure is on. Kick points for fun all day but pressure is a different game.

The joys of the Ulster Championship; there isn't a championship like it with divisions, form etc going out the window when it's all on the line. Only thing missing was the crowds as there would have been a great atmosphere. Credit to both sets of players for serving up a classic; it's a huge win for Cavan and it won't go un noticed Monaghan's last three championship defeats have come against other Ulster counties who wouldn't have been a challenge a few years back. sam1884 (UK) - Posts: 707 - 31/10/2020 15:59:59 2303386 Link 1 |
Beyond chuffed for our lads.. galligan came on against roscommon and immediately made an impact too.. was immense today. Thought we held the ball better overall and some of them young lads that came in for us will learn loads from that. We somehow never seemed to panic. Our heads won that game.. ponger (Cavan) - Posts: 449 - 31/10/2020 16:01:01 2303389 Link 0 |

Sickened for Monaghan, delighted for Cavan. Lets hope for a few more games like this. What a great spectacle. The joys of knockout football, it simply means more. Young_gael (Meath) - Posts: 391 - 31/10/2020 16:18:01 2303407 Link 6 |
