Replying To MadgeKing:  "The most interesting thing to happen in Kildare GAA in the last 10 years was a Cavan hurler.
Now that's boring!"
You mean the cavan hurler on the ditch. Lol.

Fair play to Cavan pushing this to extra time. Monaghan supporters must be disgusted by the negative tactics in the second half. Trying to hold on to a 6 or 7 point lead for an entire half is utter nonsense.

Some great point kicking in that second half from Cavan. They were far the hungrier team in the second half. All the good work done by Malachy O'Rourke the last few years set back by Banty's negative ways.

Dreadful stuff from Monaghan in second half. Banty will get a lot of the blame and rightfully so but players really lost their way out on the field and you'll win nothing if you haven't got players who can adapt and manage a game you have in the bag.

Listening on radio,Cavan fought back well in normal time, must have been a bad miss for McManus with that last chance to win it in normal time, pity it's not on reg tv.

Well done Cavan. Feel so sorry for Monaghan supporters having to watch that. Banty should be shown the door for that. Those tactics have just got exactly what they deserve

Enjoyable game, didn't think Cavan had it in them to come back but fair play to them. McManus' four misses at the end of normal time were crucial though, twice he had a man free in a better position

Wow what a finish. Fully deserved win for Cavan and they deserved to win by more. Monaghan were diabolical from half time on. As I said here during the week they had a shocking result drawing last week against a poor Meath team and that form continued into today. Well done Cavan

Well done Cavan, that's got to hurt Monaghan who only have themselves to blame.

What a finish to the game, great points by Beggan and Galligan to win the match, also the Cavan no. 5 (can't think of his name) kicked a peach to level up the game in normal time.

That's knockout footballnat it's best, I know the absence of crowds is not great but I'm happy with the absence of the backdoor and the ridiculous super 8s!

WHAT a game! My heart rate is still up! I didn't think we'd win it before the match but delighted to be proven wrong, though it was some battle.

We started really well and then faded badly first half. Thought we had left ourselves with too much to do heading into the second half, even with the breeze, but we kicked some absolutely beautiful scores to level it up. Sure McManus missed a few that you'd normally put money on him to score near the end of normal time, but you make your own luck and we seized the initiative when Monaghan went negative in the second half.

Thought we should have stayed with the breeze first half of normal time as we had all the momentum and were picking off great scores and could have racked up a few more then held it out. And when Martin Reilly got that silly black card to even the numbers up I feared the worst, but the lads showed some character and heart to come through. Balls of steel from both the keepers there at the end. Great to be looking forward to a quarter final next week!

Yeah Super 8s were sh"te, I'll be glad when they're consigned to the dustbin.

Mc Manus misses when pressure is on. Kick points for fun all day but pressure is a different game.

The joys of the Ulster Championship; there isn't a championship like it with divisions, form etc going out the window when it's all on the line. Only thing missing was the crowds as there would have been a great atmosphere. Credit to both sets of players for serving up a classic; it's a huge win for Cavan and it won't go un noticed Monaghan's last three championship defeats have come against other Ulster counties who wouldn't have been a challenge a few years back.

Monaghan have had a great run in Ulster but are we starting to see them dip? That's for next year but as for this championship Cavan will see a path to another Ulster final.

Beyond chuffed for our lads.. galligan came on against roscommon and immediately made an impact too.. was immense today. Thought we held the ball better overall and some of them young lads that came in for us will learn loads from that. We somehow never seemed to panic. Our heads won that game..

Being realistic Monaghan threw that away.. I'm not even sure they knew what they were trying to do. Neither Hughes got a kick at it. Absoutely leaderless. Maybe a complete refresh needed

Sickened for Monaghan, delighted for Cavan. Lets hope for a few more games like this. What a great spectacle. The joys of knockout football, it simply means more.
Cavan are far better than league form suggests. Having seeing them a number of times over the last 3/4 years, a dark horse on their day who can rise to the occassion and dart any team.
Monaghan; a sad day for a massive force in the recent game. Surely a culmination of the slow decline over the last 12/18 months. Still, a hard working, likable team and they'll be absolutely gutted. I have to row in behind criticising their 2nd half and their management on field and on the sideline.
Another great chapter to a great Ulster Rivalry! From one of your royal neighbours.
