Rumor is Paul Mannion has opted out this year. No idea if its true or not. Maybe because he hasn't togged out for the last couple of games, people making assumptions and catching fire. Id treat as here say (as you say) myself at the moment, the info hasn't come to me from Crokes or anyone with strong links to the set up. Well hopefully just a rumour cos he would be another massive loss. A class footballer.

I think if Tyrone beat us on Sunday they will win Ulster and the All Ireland. If Donegal win on Sunday we'll win Ulster. Tir Conaill Abu (Donegal) - Posts: 1635 - 26/10/2020 13:59:18 2301620 Link 1 |
Lol this from the guy who brought us Jason sherlock has left the dublin backroom team a few years back and scoffed at people for not knowing it as you had known it for some time, then for jayo to walk out of the dublin team coach in Tralee for the Kerry game :-)

Dublin and Kerry to win every Football All Ireland between them this decade.

Kerry couldn't do it last year playing against 14 men for most of the game, not convinced at all that they have it in them.

I'm not sure; I think they'll win the majority of them yes. Ulster football seems to be creeping up in standard again; they're a province that drive each other on when they get 4 or 5 teams to a high standard and have a habit of producing a golden era every other decade; we might be heading towards that again. Roscommon have huge financial backing nowadays and that will drive up the standard in the west and hopefully Kildare, Meath and Cork can move in the right direction to bring the competiveness up again. I've high hopes for this decades football championship; the main reason for that as well is the great Dublin team is coming to an end and they'll rejoin the pack.

I wouldn't say so. I think Donegal, Cork, Galway and Tyrone all have the ability to win an All Ireland this decade. Donegal's chance is in the next 3 or 4 years while Murphy is still around. Cork won't have the potential ability until at least 3 years time. Galway's future looks very good both in the short term and in the long term. I think Tyrone will be a real All Ireland contender from next year on when McShane is back along with the additions of Canavan and especially McKenna. That is dependent on Harte becoming less conservative and ultra defensive if he is still in charge. Yes Kerry and Dublin will be very strong but I don't think they will have things all their own way.

Did I miss something? What is this huge financial backing Roscommon have nowadays?

Dubs missing a couple of class players this year, Kerry at 5/2 is the smart bet. lilypad (Kildare) - Posts: 1357 - 26/10/2020 17:09:06 2301707 Link 4 |
Come on :) It wasn't a critcism by the way just an observation; they're not exactly sponsored by an insignificant company; dropping free apartments to be raffled etc. Every county needs finance to drive up strength and conditioning and other development/preparation. Roscommon are well backed which will help them achieve their potential hopefully; as it would benefit football as a whole having a number strong teams out west to compete nationally.

Any team could be crippled in the lead up to a key game by one single positive case... ... choosing winners is like rolling a dice. Horsebox77 (Kerry) - Posts: 4877 - 26/10/2020 18:16:57 2301727 Link 5 |
Many teams fell against 14 men.in 1988 Cork lost all Ireland final to Meath who had 14 men a lot of the game. Many questioned Cork.they won next 2 all Ireland including a victory over Meath in 1990 with 14 men.Just a quick history lesson there lol.

They aren't free houses, the county board purshased the house in Dublin and apartment in London. They are raffled for future development projects such as Hyde Park re development and training centre. We rent grounds for training and the county board office is rented also which wouldn't be the case if we had huge financial backing. In the terms of strength and conditioning we have improved under Cunninghams watch but still a good bit off the top 4 teams in S&C. I think there will be a lot of money going on kerry at the current odds of 5/2 alright.. 11/4 also available with a couple of bookies... Thought those odds would have come in a bit after their last 2 games. Dubs have drifted out to 11/10. In the Hurling:- Limerick @ 2/1 with Tipp @ 7/2 currently. Kerry after a fright against Cork, Dublin but not quite as easily as of yore, Roscommon most settled team in Connacht, Donegal after a classic with Tyrone. Final Dubs and Kerry. Winners Dubs. Is there a prize? Llaw_Gyffes (Mayo) - Posts: 1105 - 26/10/2020 22:47:09 2301824 Link 4 |
You would have won a 5 bedroom penthouse in a city of your choice but unfortunately you are disqualified for not selecting a hurling winner. Close but no cigar. Better luck next time.

Leitrim to be the dark horse in Connacht, they have unearthed a few superstars by all accounts. RossiesRus (Roscommon) - Posts: 29 - 27/10/2020 16:48:25 2302147 Link 0 |
Bad news for Galway with Comer out for Connaught championship at least. I had Galway favourites for Connaught but its a 3 horse race now for me between themselves Rossies and Mayo. It's hard to call. Can't wait for Donegal/Tyrone the weekend and watch out for Armagh! CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 630 - 27/10/2020 19:13:58 2302219 Link 2 |
