Replying To ArmaghCat:  "If you want a view of how the GAA treat the Christy Ring....this weekend Kildare play Wicklow in Christy Ring and the loser is out

However the winners of the losers round (for the teams beaten in 1st round) go onto the semi finals!! Farcical situation and all designed to run it off as quickly as possible .....so you could find that Wicklow are out by this weekend but Roscommon who they beat in 1st round could make semi finals if they win their loser match...."
Some joke that is

Is that really how it's being ran this year? Crazy if so. How about the Nicky Rackard

I'll get on my soap box again about this. The GAA and the media treat the teams that are not in the McCarthy Cup or the Sam Maguire poorly. Always hearing that the public has no interest in these other competitions and the quality getting knocked. Its up to the counties themselves. How disrespectful to the effort of players and how untrue this is. If these teams were in your face with t.v., media and yes the GAA their path to higher levels would be possible. Don't you think that in over 100 years someone would have broken through the glass ceiling ? No because the systems s are all geared towards the elites and please don't compare us with other sports. We are better than that.

So despite defeating Roscommon last week Wicklow are out having lost to Kildare......

And....... Roscommon who lost to Wicklow are still in..... And if they beat Sligo on November 8th march on further.... Who thought that would be a good format!!

I agree. Roscommon have actually benefited from losing to Wicklow in the first round. Now we've drawn Sligo and probably should negotiate that and make a semi which maybe the height of our progress. A weird logic to the draw indeed.

Similar situation in Rackard Cup.
Armagh and Tyrone both lost at the same stage on Saturday in Round 2A.
However Tyrone are still in the Competition and play this weekend but Armagh appear to be out.
And Leitrim, whom Armagh defeated in Round 1 are still in the competition with a chance of making the Semi-Finals.
Strange set up.

Yep. Not even a mention on the Sunday Game again last night. Not covered at all on HS Match Tracker either. It's almost as if they'd prefer you didn't know these games were happening...?

Joe McDonagh Cup round 3
Carlow v Meath, Netwatch Cullen Park, 2pm

Christy Ring Cup Round 2B
Derry v Offaly, Pairc Esler, 1.30pm

Are these fixtures correct? Carlow have already played at home & Meath traveled to Tralee. Also, why are Derry playing in Newry?

Each county in the MacDonagh cup get 2 home and 2 away.

We are away to Kerry and Westmeath while Meath will be home to Westmeath and Antrim.

Derry and Offaly at neutral venue as if distance is greater than 130 miles between the two counties it moves to neutral venue...

Why aren't the Ring, Rackard & Meagher competitions being ran the same way?
