Christy Ring 2020

Roscommon vs Wicklow today.

11 minutes of injury time played after 4 were announced.

A goal that followed on from a shot that had first gone wide.

Will anybody care ? No, because its the Christy Ring.

Not even listed on the HS Match Tracker...nor were the 2 McDonagh Cup fixtures. Even Div 4 football is more important.

Antrim won the Division 2 hurling final last weekend and not 1 second of it was on the Sunday game. They beat Westmeath today comprehensively and the result wasn't even mentioned on tonight's program. This is a team that could play in the Liam McCarthy next year and that's the coverage they get. So what hope is there for the Christy Ring cup. Shame on RTE.

Yep - 2 hurling games, 2 Camogie games (albeit a few minutes) and talked through the other results then on to the football. Would like to say I am surprised but they are a disgrace.

What's the alternative run a 6 hour highlights show. I'm sure most people from football counties would rather see their football team covered over the Christy Ring team.

The only real option I can see is a separate show for the lower tournaments the way that BBC have for the soccer but viewing figures would probably just be a few lads from this forum

No they run a 2 hour show already which should give more than enough time to even show a minute or twos highlights from all the games they have on. They spent over 40 minutes last night on 2 matches with the most of that spent on the match which was the Live game on RTE yesterday. Too much time is spent talking about stuff they don't need to be discussing that either adds no value or isn't relevant. And by not relevant I mean they start talking about games involving the teams in the weeks ahead when they could use that time to show the games which they already have coverage of from the weekend in question.

There were 10 hurling games this weekend - the 8 games in the McDonagh, Ring, Meagher and Rackard could have been wrapped up in a 5 minute highlight slot, one after the other, in the one clip - I am not even looking them to show a game, analyze, show the next. But they can't even do that!

And you mention the Football Counties and that you are sure people from them would rather see their football team over a Christy Ring team. Well, I watched the whole show last week too and not one clip was shown from the Division 4 fixtures so it's an elitist thing from RTÉ who won't even pay lip service to the also rans.

Correction - 9 hurling games, 7 of which were in the Peasants Championships.

Could the panel not at least have discussed the Antrim match for 30 seconds. If what you saying is true then how can these same counties complain when they feel hurling is not being promoted in their counties? Sounds like the Wicklow hurling match was alot more exciting than their Div 4 league football game with Wexford which got air time last night but no mention of the hurling game.

Wexford v Wicklow, and Sligo v LImerick from Division 4 were shown, as they affected promotion to Division 3.

It's not an elitist thing from RTE it's a TV thing. Do you think a tennis TV show has highlights of the Irish and the Latvian open along side Wimbledon or the Munster junior cup highlights along with the pro 14 in the rugby?

The truth is most don't care and never will and giving it time on TV is more likely to switch people off than get them interested. Only for hards like us forum users will ever care

Not talking about last nights Sunday Game - was last weeks I was referring to where they didn't show any of the Div 4 games.

For the sake of a few minutes though what does it matter or why are you against them showing them? If it keeps us minions happy is it not a good thing - or would you rather us eat cake?

Will they treat the new 'B' All-Ireland Football Championship (can't remember what it's called) the same way next year???

As a Wicklow supporter I enjoyed both of our games. It's great to live in an age lads where I can log on and watch both codes at Christy Ring and Division 4 football level for a small cost live. It was a great weekend for us. Speaking of our match v Roscommon in the Christy Ring did anyone see the Roscommon "goal" that wasn't - hit the outside of the net stanchion and came back to him, went unnoticed by the ref and umpire.

The Tailteann cup. No they wont treat it the same because the supporters from those counties will make their voice heard. Thats not happening in the lower hurling tiers.

Ide have no problem with a few minutes of highlights especially important games in those competitions and as well as that the Sunday game doesn't need to be everything nowadays and RTE could have extended highlights online.

But I guarantee that as soon as the Christy Ring gets a few minutes everyone will be on here crying that it only got a few minutes.

My favourite idea would be a second show for the diehards like the league of Ireland one on a Monday. Give us a pick of lower division and club stuff with pundits who know that level well

Why do you insist on making these silly comparisons?

If you want a view of how the GAA treat the Christy Ring....this weekend Kildare play Wicklow in Christy Ring and the loser is out

However the winners of the losers round (for the teams beaten in 1st round) go onto the semi finals!! Farcical situation and all designed to run it off as quickly as possible .....so you could find that Wicklow are out by this weekend but Roscommon who they beat in 1st round could make semi finals if they win their loser match....
