Firstly, condolences to all in Eoin Bergins family and Club and indeed Kil kenny, on the passing of Eoin , I remember him as a minor, and he was a gifted hurler. Words are all we can say in a time of such loss, in adequate but all we can do all the same., May he Rest In Peace.
While reviewing Eoins minor years, I was looking at the Kilkenny panel for their game V Dublin in 2012, and given Kilkennys sucess in recent years and turn over players, I noted not too many of that minor team feature now that I know of. I know they didnt win Leinster or the All Ireland but its still Kilkenny and any team they put out on a filed is always a good team...what became of these players, did any go on to U21 or indeed senior..again mindful of Eoin Bergins passing so its primarily the rest of the team I am just wondering about. James Maher and John Walsh I have heard mentioned in recent times. Kilkenny Minor Team to Play Dublin

A nice touch to give Eoin Bergin a mention here. On that KK minor team Enda Morrissey is the only name I can pick out that made it to senior. Is that the same Diarmuid Cody who has played midfield for the seniors? Cats fans no doubt can enlighten us further. I do know Tipp were the minor champs that year as Ronan Maher was one of the backs. A very good Dublin team took them to a replay in the final As for Eoin, he got to wear his county colours. Something most of us can only ever dream of doing

I think what is often forgotten when wondering why successful county minors don't go on to play at senior level, is that they chose not to. A lot of commitment is required of a top senior county (and club) player. And a lot of players are not able, or unwilling to do it. Maybe because of job or family commitments, or moving away.

Barry Whelan Thomastown" Firstly RIP to Eoins family, club and county. An awful tragedy.
Holohan in goals played with UCD for a good few years in the Fitz and is still the Boro first choice keeper. Chris Bolger had a run in with the county seniors too. Enda Morrissey and James Maher are the bigger names from the list. Diarmuid Cody had a few years in and around the senior set up, the one game I can remember him from is a league game against Cork for some reason. Conor Martin was in as well but I think he didn't get any game time, won a NHL and Leinster title in 2018 & 16 respectively.
I am open to correction on all of these and I know that a lot of surnames are common in Kilkenny.
