Another senseless post. Paddy Irishman in full swing. Its not a good idea to be putting your name on this forum in my opinion, and especially not at the start of every single post. Also the spelling of your name in relation to your religion; exhausting to hear such things being said in 2020. Wow. I mean no disrespect but wow. Maybe if you were born in the 1920's I could see where you're coming from.
Its a harmless flag; a bit of fun. I have a mate on the G road and its all in good taste. Its a unique joke that only the Irish (or British) could understand. Everything about your posts reeks of the slowly dying conservative Ireland, language that would make perfect sense in a different time to different people. You make your points well but I honestly think theyre seriously out of touch.

Looking at the Television on Saturday evening I saw a large banner behind the goals to the right of the Commentary box which read Garvaghy Road Orangemen on Tour or something similar, Anyone that would be familiar with the words on this flag would and should feel that it would be offensive to a vast number of people living in Portadown ( Non Gaa suporters) because of history. I feel that the Ulster Council should take a stand on this type of material which in my opinion has no place in the GAA" I don't remember you getting all worked up when elderly Armagh GAA fans were attacked at Portadown station back in 2014.

Look the Gaa is an All Ireland organisation and I feel that this Garvaghy Rd flag could be deemed to be offensive to some people. Whether a section of a particular County can dictate that a flag (all be i black humour) can be slung behind the Goals of a particular County , which some people may deem offensive can go unchallenged by Ulster Council and Gaa HG I find it strange. If a County wants to fly flags, emblems, let them be all encompassing and not have tongue in cheek connotations" offensive to who??

I do take this as a wind-up or is he another one of the many 'closet' unionist!!!!
It is't that long ago that I was brought to watch Armagh as a young lad with my dad, Casement Park 1990, Ulster semi final v Down - ok 30 yrs ago !!! I still remember a group of young lads , older than me probably in their mid to late teens walking up that approach road from Stockman's lane to Anderstown Road, their flags were confiscated by the police and broken in front of them, very provocative gesture

That was the RUC getting their digs in and hoping somebody might object so they could beat 10 shades out of them and bring them down the road to the station to claim they were 'attacked' by GAA/IRA supporters. I remember having to leave my flag on the train back from Dublin and colours tucked well away for arriving back in Central Station in case the loyalists had their spotters out. Sad times! Thankfully those days have passed.

Does Tomsmith know about the searchs by RUC going of people to club games all over the North, the checkpoint at the border in Aughnacloy when you were took out of car and searched when going to Clones and the traffic queues. Then we had the murder of a lad walking to his own club. Trampled over for years ah but don't fly a flag, sure that's not on.

OP has to be at the wind up but ill bite anyway.
Im from the G Road and i work with a lot of folk from town who wouldnt necessarily be big GAA fans but they have seen the flag and think its quite humourous and a bit of fun, not one of them has ever even suggested it was in anyway derogatory. That flag has gone all over Ireland and Armagh fans, and other fans can testify to that and yet you are the first person Tom to take umbrage, strange.

I just hope that good sense and manners will prevail in next years league and that such emblems/banners/flags that could offend others will not be on display. As a GAA person this sort of , Tongue in cheek, black humor what ever you might call this unacceptable behaviour hopefully will be discontinued

It's a funny flag end of story.

Might feel a bit more British then.

Tomsmith here
I have read all your posts and stood back for a day or two so not to post in haste. But I shudder to think that anyone from Garvaghy RD could fail to condemn such behaviours by pot stirrers,. Thjere is two ways of looking at this flag thing ( and you Green eyed people are wrong both ways) and I feel with Ardmagh playing i top flight teams that this flag should be hidden or a public burning taken place by the owners . One has to be aware that Ardmagh will entertain top teams at home this year, who have no interest in race, class or creed and indeed will not know why this display of gratuitous offending is taking place J ust wonder will the flag will the flag be flying in front of well educated Div 1 supporters
