Replying To Rockies:  "I think Waterford could be our toughest game. After that, I do not anticipate any difficulty with the best of the rest from Munster! Leinster teams do not impress me unduly, so I think Cork will win a "soft" All Ireland" and hand Patrick Horgan a first medal! Our main challenge will be Covid-19, which is an unpredictable adversary!"
im sure you felt the same way last year before playing leinster team kilkenny.....how that work out for you?

That was last year! Long gone in rear view mirror. This year brings a new dawn. Foregone conclusion as long as no level 5

Replying To CiarraiMick:  "I actually think that there s about 8 teams in hurling now capable of winning all ireland. The usual Munster crop Kilkenny Galway the Wexicans and even the Dubs"
I think, realistically some of those teams you mentioned would need some serious momentum and luck to pull it off. The big 3, limerick or galway are the only realistic contenders in my eyes.

Replying To StoreysTash:  "I think Wexford missed the boat last year. Having Tipp on the ropes, couldn't land the knock-out blow. I don't think we will go any further this year as Tipp and Limerick both improve more presumably.
But lets be real here, a championship is becoming increasingly unlikely."
I dont know why people keep saying the championship is looking unlikely.. it will definitely be played.

I wouldn't rate Cork over Wexford at all.

In fact a bit more composure in the last 10 minutes against Tipp last year and Wexford possibly would have won the all Ireland. They'll be better this year. I think They're a serious outfit.

Agreed Tipp, ourselves, Galway Kilkenny have to be contenders. Mahoneys injury is a huge loss to Waterford but realistically they weren't going to be in the last four baring a lot of luck.

Clare are missing too many quality players to go all the way..

The great thing about it is skillet is that there is absolutely no form line. Nobody knows where they're at. Jackie Tyrrell put it brilliantly when he called it a machine gun championship.

That's the point though.. they didn't have the composure. Thats the difference. I definitely think Cork will win their next AI before Wexford.

Limerick definitely the better team even in the first half despite the game being level. Some poor passes and little frees given away in dangerous areas though

Limerick were miles better, looked really good but Clare were very poor no bite at all and missing too many big players conlon, galvin, duggan, collins and McGrath. No team could afford to be without that quality in fairness.

I rate Cork highly and I think their current team is underachieving, they are missing the last few years a commanding centre back and Eoin Cadogan can be inconsistent at full back. I still believe they have the best forward unit in the country on paper and I can't understand how a county with a forward line that has Pat Horgan, Seamus Harnedy, Conor Lehane, Luke Meade, Shane Kingston and Alan Cadogan hasn't won an all Ireland but at saying that I came out of the all Ireland semi-final in 2018 relieved thinking we got out of jail and I believe if Cork had won that game they would have beaten Galway.

Decent game, especially first half when it was close. Had the feel of a challenge match though. Crowds make the championship, don't they?

I've always rated this Cork team and I love how they play. Can't understand what's holding them back from winning the AI but there seems to be an almost old Limerick like mentality that makes em freeze up on the big days

That's my point though. With the quality they have
they've underachieved massively in the last 10 years or so.
Cork should have won the all Ireland first day out in 2013.
What happened them against Waterford in 2017?
They couldn't put us away in normal time in 2018, were all over the place against Kilkenny last year.

Don't think Waterford will be too scared of Cork next week even though Mahoney will be a huge loss.
What odds a Waterford win?

Are Limerick and Tipp just too far of the rest for anyone to challenge them ? Not ever writing off Kilkenny but for Galway, Cork, Wexford, Clare, Waterford and Dublin etc. is the gap too wide for any of them to have a chance. It would be heavy mantel of domination for Limerick to carry but Tipp would bear it. If there is a period of domination it would be nice if it was Limerick.

It would be typical if we end up with the best Limerick hurling team since the 1930s and no one will be able to go see them play :(

Hearing a lot of talk about Limerick being unbeatable which I can't understand. They are undoubtedly very good but here are some facts that I think need to be considered:
1. They played 6 games last year in Championship and won 3 - 50% success rate.
2. There is a narrative that Limerick got ambushed and ran out of time on a big comeback against Kilkenny- this is not true. Limerick were a point down after 40mins and couldn't win from there. They had half an hour to claw back a 1 point deficit and were unable.
3. Their panel is touted as being very strong but had Mike Casey and Richie English been fit ,13 of the All Ireland team would have started yesterday and the other two were the first two subs. If the squad members are that good how can they not break onto the team? Also how can people say how good they are when they have played very little championship?

Not Anti Limerick just a bit tired of the narrative at this stage. Tipp are All-Ireland champions and haven't got half as much praise or coverage.

I love hurling but know very little about it. Will weather and pitch conditions give any county a slight bit more improvement in chances than if games were played in a good summer with hard pitches and good ground underfoot?
