Exactly, at least with sky you can choose your bundle, like you can have documentaries sports and movies if you want which is a great idea. With RTÉ your just forsed to take what they give you and forsed to pay for it as well. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 11732 - 08/10/2020 10:14:07 2296362 Link 1 |
I don't have Sky myself and only have what I hear of the analysis to go by but it sounds positive. As far as this years champions I think it's very much all to play for and with Gavin/ Clarke and all the retirements from the Dubs squad I can see there being a period of readjustment and adapting to the the new regime. Likelihood is it'll be Kerry , Tyrone & Donegal and Galway that will mount the biggest claim. Not sure where Mayo are at this point and I suppose anything is possible with the games coming quick and fast. Of course , all it takes is an outbreak in a squad and the whole job could be thrown up on the air. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 1647 - 08/10/2020 10:15:04 2296363 Link 0 |
You're right about the choice. I'm no defender of RTÉ either, they seem to just burn through money and the product is often very poor that we get as their main funders. Just think that if we're saying that RTÉ isn't free and costs us 160 quid a year then we should also take that into account when talking about Sky's cost. It's 160 per year plus basic subscription plus sports packages. I personally don't bother with Sky Sports anymore, have in the past, for me it just isn't worth the price. Personal choice and all that. I can watch any game I want on Sky if I really want to in anyways. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13145 - 08/10/2020 10:27:11 2296367 Link 1 |

I think you misunderstand. I said I can watch Sky if I really want to without paying for it. Plenty of ways and means around overpaying for something. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13145 - 08/10/2020 13:24:20 2296404 Link 1 |
My bad, I get you now.

Sky will be gone like a bat out of hell once their current contract ends. They haven't picked up subscribers the way they were expecting to, and the English market is purely ex-pats rather than some Cockney sitting down to watch a match and learn the game. Much prefer the sky analysis as that is what it is. The RTE stuff is entertainment but each to their own. If you are trying to look at the game and learn from it, watch SKY, if you want to talk about the game in the pub watch RTE.

link No, but they're gonna show some league games not shown elsewhere. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 5955 - 09/10/2020 20:50:59 2296635 Link 1 |
I wish Tg4 were showing the Kerry Donegal game, where Kerry could be crowned league champions, and then on Sunday the Mayo v Tyrone relegation battle, deferred coverage of this one but it's not the same. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 1076 - 23/10/2020 20:41:51 2300618 Link 0 |
So RTÉ would've televised Dublin V Laois yesterday evening???
