the parish is small though, only nenagh and portroe are smaller in size area wise in north tipp. the population has grown true enough though in the last twenty years.

But physical size is irrelevant to numbers.

Completely incorrect. If anything Kiladangan would have been considered a decent size parish compared to others. You may scrub up a bit on your research.

Very true. They have done great work there over the last number of years since they went up Senior. Huge number of adult players. Stand to be corrected on this but possibly only Toomevara could rival the number of adult players they have.

lorrha, Kilruane, shannon rovers (kilbarron), toomevara, silvermines, templederry, borrisoileigh, borrisokane, ballinahinch are all bigger actually. Only Nenagh, portroe, knockshegowna (part of Shinrone in Offaly)and possibly ballina and roscrea are smaller. So the majority are bigger in area

You've changed from your original post and all of those arent bigger either. Knockshe is completely in Tipp and Shinrone completely in Offaly. 100 years ago thing ay have been different but I think you maybe mixing up the unusual arrangements of Moneygall and Carrig.

knockshe still is counted as shinrone parish, i know shinrone is offaly, but there are alot of border issues between tipp and offaly,carrick/riverstown is completley in tipp but play im offaly and so on.
What did i change from in my original post?? If you want the proof on parish areas i have it. the original post was that kiladangan was one of the bigger parishes in north tipp...its not! its not the smallest but definitley not the biggest in area either. its well down the pecking order

And many of those parishes have always or very regularly had to join with other clubs to field teams or are quite weak. Like Ballinahinch, Borrisokane, Rovers, Lorrha dont win much anything.
And area is irrelevant as ballina, roscrea, nenagh are all towns/large populations...

they usually more or less field on their own in adult level at underage yeah they would amalgamate at times. Lorrha were a strong team in the 80s and upto the mid 90s and are the biggest parish in North tipp. Portroe and Knockshegowna have the smallest areas to pick from, Portroe seem to be punching above their weight for years and won a north tipp senior or two if im not mistaken.

Lorrha havent been that strong at underage in years and while they may a geographically large parish it isnt near the same in terms of people.
Area is irrelevant compared to population.

I spent a lot of my youth around Littleton and outskirts of Thurles. My three cousins played for Moycarky. (probably spelled it wrong) Those fete evenings were something to behold. There wound not be a bit of skin left on anyone coming off the field but they could hurl also.
