Ballymun Vs Kilmacud

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

An entertaining match ruined close to the end by some disgusting eye gouging. Ballymun no.5 and no.21 for Kilmacud should see an instant 1 year ban each. Actually it should be a longer ban for the Ballymun no.5 as he was suspended for 8 weeks a few years ago for biting while playing for Dublin.

Hardly eye gouging, cant understand why number 5 for Crokes didnt walk, he caused the ruckus, he should have walked. But an awful lot of pushing and shoving. They have lost one player for final so a silly thing to get involved in.

Eye gouging is exactly what it was.

Awful to see.
And an uppercut from Byrne while holding the jersey over the Kilmacud players head too.

Zero doubt in it.

Apologies, I got the player numbers mixed up. Kilmacud no.5 started the eye gouging and was followed by the Ballymun player no.21 on the ground. Ballymun no.21 was banned a few years ago in OByrne cup for biting. Both should be heavily punished.

Cian O'Connor (Crokes no.5) starts the whole thing and walks away with a yellow!

He even had the cheek to go up complaining to the ref about an eye gouge when he was the one who started the eye gouging!

He should get a huge suspension, he almost certainly won't though. Whelan and Byrne will miss the final, and rightfully so, but it's so annoying that O'Connor can get away with it.

Young was also red carded but I don't think anyone knows what for? He'll almost certainly be cleared.

The Ballymun players were stupid to react to Crokes but the fact that the Crokes lads knew they were beaten and decided to try and bring a few Ballymun lads down with them is a problem that we don't seem to be able to fix in GAA. The instigators of it all, Crokes in this instance, walk away scott free from the incidents.

Hardly ? What cause the eye stayed in the socket ?? Pure thuggery is what it was ..by the pair of them if you did it on the street youd be in court on an assault charge ...what sentence would a judge hardly hand down ? A lad struck an opponent on our team .. he got dropped for the season irrespective of sanction .. he was no good to us if he can do that

Was definitely eye gouging. I hate to see it. Don't know what Crokes were up to at that stage when starting it. Ballymun were silly to get involved with the game in the bag. Glad to see the Mun go through though. Should be a great final.

Ballymun have absolutely nobody to blame but themselves. The game was over they had it won. Easily some of the most braindead behaviour i have witnessed in a long time getting involved. Literally cant put it into words how stupid the Ballymun players were. If i was the manager, teammate or supporter of the two amadans who got sent off i would be fuming with them. Let themselves and their club down yesterday acting the hard men

And nothing about the Crokes lads?

I've no link to either club btw, I think the 2 Ballymun lads who will be suspended (Whelan and Byrne) were idiotic and deserve to be banned. Young won't be banned as he didn't do anything.

The Crokes lads were the instigators. They deserve the same opprobrium that you've poured on the Ballymun players. The Ballymun players will be punished for their idiocy but the Crokes player that started everything walks away.

It's wrong and is a huge problem in the GAA.

At the moment it pays off to start things like we saw yesterday, that's not a good place for the GAA to be imo.

Crokes thuggish behaviour was rewarded and will have no consequences. Ballymun's thuggish behaviour was punished and will have consequences.

Great game though, Dublin Championship always highly enjoyable.

Going to be a ding dong of a final.

No Crokes players were sent off and should any be banned off Video evidence they should serve the ban in next years championship. Ballymun players shouldn't have reacted they had nothing to gain and now face missing two players for a county final because they decided F*** the club i am going to be a hard man here. Honestly what Crokes did happens loads of times in many games but most clubs are not stupid enough to react.

But that's the point, it happens all the time. It shouldn't. Had the Crokes players not instigated it then it wouldn't have happened. They're worse than the Ballymun lads but will get less punishment. Its a hole attitude problem in the GAA.

Crokes couldn't match Ballymun in football so they started fighting instead. That deserves far worse punishment in my opinion than lads reacting to it. If the Crokes lads hadnt decided "to act the hard man" no one would have been sent off at all.

The Ballymun lads (except for Young) deserve their bans but the Crokes lads should get suspended for longer at least. The GAA need to start punishing those that instigate the rows as strongly as possible.

Totally agree with this, same thing happened in Down when Kilcoo beat Burren and after the final whistle Burren ( not all ) and subs starting a row with one sub running 30 meters to kick a kilcoo player in the face.
Punishment was a 1 game ban for a kilcoo lad and 3 players from Burren got 1 game bans and 1 got a 2 match ban but this doesn't fit the crime these players should be getting 6/8 championship game bans and if that takes 2 seasons so be it.

As you said Mesamis its the hard man approach can't win a football so lets start a fight to get players punished, county boards turn a blind eye to this everywhere it really ****** me off.

Turned off before the incident as I had to head off, but I was disappointed to see Ballymun players constantly shouldering and shoving Kilmacud players every time they themselves got a score. Paddy Small being one of the biggest culprits. Left a bit of a sour taste especially given that I'm a big fan of most of the intercounty Ballymun players. I get that nice guys finish last and all but I just thought it was very unnecessary to be at that type of goading.

How are the county board turning a blind eye to it if as you state above players got bans? FFS what do you expect them to do throw them out of next years championship? Just dont react simple as. There was only a bit of pulling and dragging in Ballymun game until a player over reacted and a brawl started. It was the Ballymun player swinging punches

There seems to be a culture of mud slinging in Kerry.

Paint everyone with the same brush and you sully the good names of those that do good work.
