Shameful shameful stuff. He's an inter county player that kids look up to and he's behaving like that. He should have more respect for himself. There needs to be consequences for that type of carry on. Its creeping in far too much.

It was comical. He went down like a big tree after being felled by a logger. The big eejit. I know in tight games players will do anything to win but that was a bit pathetic. He'll get some slagging over that for years to come. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 7075 - 12/08/2020 13:28:25 2287363 Link 2 |

No surprise there. He's borderline in most games he plays. His indiscipline is what will stop him from becomming the player that he has the absolute potential to be. And that would be a shame.

Borderline would be an understatement.

His fitness level will be a factor in stopping that too i'd say.

Gleeson has done stupid things in the past. I have criticized him and worried that he is not settled down at this time in his carrier. He is one of the strongest players in the game if not the most. Hitting hard with bad timing or late sometimes. The red card was wrong because the hit was side on. The problem he is going to have is even when the hit is fair the other player is hurt and this will draw attention from refs and everyone else. Gleeson definitely an enigma.

Watched Gleeson yesterday take a lot of hits. They were falling off him like flies. Reminds me of Frank Cummins at his best. One of the best in the country at present. Scored from his own 45m. Hopefully he will pick his spots. Great win for a young Passage side. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 979 - 24/08/2020 17:33:14 2288954 Link 0 |
The four points gleeson got from play were brilliant. The last one was pure class

Score line from Offaly u13B, hurling championship last night. MicktheMiller (Offaly) - Posts: 112 - 25/08/2020 10:30:08 2289043 Link 0 |
That should read 73 point margin. MicktheMiller (Offaly) - Posts: 112 - 25/08/2020 10:31:37 2289044 Link 0 |
There's something seriously wrong with a score-line like that, on so many levels. I doubt if the U13s (on either side) gained very much from that. Coaches should not allow that to happen - no wonder we have huge levels of dropout during the teenage years. I saw a similar scoreline from an U12 game paraded on social media in my own county a few weeks ago - with parents so "proud" of the winners! Coach education is failing, if this kind of thing is seen as "good practice". football first (None) - Posts: 1181 - 25/08/2020 10:44:33 2289047 Link 4 |
Image having to persuade your 13 year to continue or turning out for the next game after subjecting him to that. Stop recording at some point. Have a mercy rule and stop the game. Don't tell me for one second that they are still learning. For that to happen they are not touching the ball. In the present climate of covid probable better to stop as at least you are reducing the risk factor. If a 73 point win is a badge of honour for anyone, it is a sad reflection on them.

I had to check that score line a few times to check that it was correct. It is very disheartening to those losing Ednederry players to endure a hammering like that, very hard to lift their spirits to line out the next day, and not much benefit to Clara either. Both clubs are better known for football, although Clara were promoted to Senior B hurling for this year. Edenderry are trying to revive hurling in the club,in a football dominated area. Some good matches there. Are Gort decent this year?

Just out of curiosity, where in Galway are Mullagh, KIllimordaly, and Sarsfield GAA clubs? Think I know where the other clubs are located.

Mullagh, Killimordaly and sarsfields are located in East Galway about 9miles from the town of Loughrea.

No, Gort are well seasoned and relying on the same group of players they have had for the last 10yrs no youth or speed.
