In Hurling it would be Waterford or Galway and in Football Galway, Mayo and Armagh. Usually it's the underdogs I root for. Maybe it's strange but I could never shout for Cork in Hurling but would like to see them do well in Football. Equally I could never shout for the Dubs or Kerry in Football but would in Hurling.

Replying To sourmilk93:  "Galway in Hurling I think most Connaght people would be the same.
In Football the Dubs even though I am kind getting sick of them winning at this stage but down the years once Roscommon were out I would shout for the Dubs."
You from Cloonfad? They loved sticking out Dublin flags when we were coming down home after another final loss.

Down - Always had a soft spot for them even though they broke my heart in 94..

Always loved watching M Linden, R Carr, Wee James, G Blaney.

Wouldn't say I have a particular affinity towards any county when my own isn't involved but like many people I'll find myself rooting for the underdog quite often.

I'd watch most games that are on tv either live or recorded and wouldn't normally miss any big matches. I love watching football regardless of whether my own county is involved or not.

I don't watch a lot of hurling I must admit, or at least I don't make time to watch it in the way that I do football. It's a brilliant game and I appreciate the tremendous skill and effort put in by the teams but it just doesn't do anything for me for whatever reason.

In the 80's and 90's I was a huge Meath fan but being honest I was more a player fan than a team fan, I loved watching Mick Lyons and Anthony Tohill and as a result followed Meath and Derry. These days have a grà for Donegal and Michael Murphy he's some player.

In hurling I always roared for Clare , Just like what they were about with Davy Fits, as a result I now find myself roaring on the yellow bellies

In hurling it would be most certainly Clare!
Football it would definitely be Down who rejuvenated the rise of Ulster football in the early '90's with a lovely style of football blessed with a very talented group of players!

Replying To Breezy:  "Fair play to you but I just can't bring myself to do it when it comes to Clare. I have a lot of respect for Cork teams and fans but they have won plenty over the years so ide only shout for them over KK.

I don't really have a second team its more about the narrative of each year. I was delighted for Galway in 17 but that was back before I met Katzer so never again"
Don't take any notice of Katzer- he is either a very poor loser or a WUM- I firmly believe he is the latter, as he frequently 'elevates' other users on the Galway site. I simply do not engage with him anymore.
To get back to the point of whether to support Galway. I know several Galway people and still meet up, or have contact, with them. Almost to a man, or woman, they are fine welcoming, sporting, salt of the earth people. So I have no problem in shouting for them although in '17 I did shout for Waterford, for the simple that they were down at that time even longer that Galway, and are also a great county, with the finest supporters.

Football. Down. Like us took 3 all Ireland's in the sixties and returned in the nineties stylish fluid football. Similarities are notable.
Have good time for Kildare as well and loved the colour contrast between these two sets of fans at the 2010 semi final.

Hurling would be Waterford. Contributed as much and more to hurling than any all Ireland winner over the last 25 years in terms of being involved in great games. How they did not pull an Ireland was disappointing. Also i like Limerick.
Tipperary are an interesting one from my perspective. While you would be unpopular in Galway to show any support for them I actually admire them as when on a roll are really good to watch. 2nd half of the '16 final was mesmerising.

Football - being a Meath man, i'd respect the Dubs enough to wish them well. I'd also have a lot of time for Tyrone. In 97 they played a pitch opening close to my home. I asked for an autograph and one of the players (might've been Brian Dooher) took the program off me and got every player to sign it. A very classy gesture and earned my respect right there.

Hurling. Mother is from Waterford so I've also been a Deise. I've always had a gra for the Cork hurlers too. Always a stylish bunch. I lived in Dublin in the mid 00's when they were going well and every sunday they played in Croker they used to come down the road I lived on pucking balls and lossening up. Was a sight to behold. When they played Waterford one year in croker I stuck a Deise flag out the window knowing they'd be coming passed. It didn't go unnoticed by them ;)

In hurling and football, Laois. I've a Laois mam.

Admired the Offaly hurlers of the 1990s greatly. Down in football in the same decade.

Agree, one of the first phone calls I got after we won the All Ireland in 18 was from a Galway friend.
He was gutted but really delighted for us.
Very good of him and I appreciated it..

Waterford in hurling. Used to be Offaly but they are gone now sadly.
Like playing football but not watching it. Sorry!

In hurling it would be Waterford from Munster and Dublin in Leinster, I would like to say Carlow but too often they are not at the top end to make a difference, so if anyone were to win an All Ireland in hurling it would be Dublin or Waterford.
Football - given how quick these days Wexford go out there are a lot of teams to choose from however I perhaps would still go for Dublin and that was every before they started winning, unlike the time when Kerry were going for 5 in a row I was supporting Dublin.
However the reality is I don't dislike any team and when watching games I can switch depending on how the game is being played. Its amazing how an incident in a game can change your view on who you want to win as all you want to see if a good game and fair play.

Hurling: Clare, loved the teams of the 90's.

Football: Usually an Ulster team or the underdog
