When Your Team Is Out Who Do You Most Root For?

When Galway are bounced out of the Hurling I always pull hard for Clare. If they're not available I usually go for the underdog in any match.
When Galway are out of the Football I pull hard for Mayo, Roscommon, and Clare.

I have zero interest to be honest, i actually switch off and dont watch the rest of the games, usually head out of the country and have a holiday or whatever. I might record the Sunday game and watch weeks after the final in there's nothing else on. But once the Dubs are gone, im not really bothered about what happens and its all about club.

Its not sour grapes or anything and id always say fair play to whoever won, just doesnt have the same excitement for me when my team is gone. Ive said that to people before and they think its odd, but its the truth and always been that way even when we would have early summers. Same with the league final last year, i didnt watch it, but watched the highlights a few weeks a later.

Id probably make an exception in interest for Mayo, but in all honesty i didnt watch 2012 final, i watched the highlights in Oct/Nov some time and just booked a hol after the semi defeat.

You're not odd at all. I'm the same way in Premier League. I watch Liverpool but find it hard to watch others.

Have to say I largely agree with what has already been said, I do tend to like the underdog winning as a general rule but dont specifically follow any other counties in football, although I like seeing some teams do well any given season, namely Monaghan, Roscommon, Tipperary, Clare, and inside Leinster; Offaly, Longford, and Louth.
I watch hurling as a complete neutral though and tend to enjoy the games more as I've no stake in who wins or loses.
I used to really like cheering on the Waterford team of Shanahan and Mullane, and like getting behind Wexford and Clare right now.

I would shout for Down and Galway, (Even when we still in it ) and they not playing us. and Louth. I've found myself cheering on mayo in all final but let's be honest that has come to nothing.

That all been said. I will cheer for any team playing against Westmeath, Kildare , Offaly, and Tyrone.

Football is anyone but Kerry, I live near the border and many of them decided to marry Cork people and live in the area, I wouldn't here the end of it when they win all Irelands :D

In hurling it would probably be Galway or Wexford I'd root for, when Cork are out I don't wanna see a Munster winner and also don't wanna see Kilkenny winning it due to there dominance they had in this century

I think this often can change, it's well known in hurling how Clare were the neutrals darlings in 95 and after some controversies and loose Loughnane comments were the other end of the spectrum by 98

My "2nd teams" would be Mayo in Football, Waterford in hurling while carlow in both codes would have some support due to family links.

Don't really have any second team, probably like most people depends on the day or the era etc.

Once the Dubs are gone I don't follow any team, its case by case

When Limerick are out I always cheer for our neighbours and rival Clare. Unlike Tipp and Cork, Clare are in the same boat as us, living off scraps and often the underdog, if we're out I'd always prefer to see them do well

Fair play to you but I just can't bring myself to do it when it comes to Clare. I have a lot of respect for Cork teams and fans but they have won plenty over the years so ide only shout for them over KK.

I don't really have a second team its more about the narrative of each year. I was delighted for Galway in 17 but that was back before I met Katzer so never again

Galway in Hurling I think most Connaght people would be the same.
In Football the Dubs even though I am kind getting sick of them winning at this stage but down the years once Roscommon were out I would shout for the Dubs.
