Alot of the Garda escorts for refs stuff is a bit over dramatic. I mean are we really saying that the lives and health of these refs are being threatened because if so people should be arrested Breezy (Limerick) - Posts: 1106 - 15/07/2020 16:35:46 2284151 Link 0 |
I am not saying it's a very regular occurrence but it's in the news far too much and even taking into account there is more gaa games than rugby the number of incidents in gaa games compared to rugby is not near the rate of gaa games compared to rugby.

You're a ref?? Do you send players off for calling you 'ref' instead of 'referee'? Write in the match report that you were constantly abused and bullied during the game? I find that hard to believe, any ref I know has a lot more thick skin than what you demonstrate on here. If you suffer from social anxiety, that's about the last place you would want to be. On a pitch with players, coaches and sometimes supporters in your face. Its not an easy job and if you're struggling to hold it together on a forum its hard to believe you on that one.

Ref is a very common shortening of referee. Ormo is abusive Ormond is right and isnt offending me. And I'm quite a good ref. Will most likely never ref in the AIL as a national referee but have reffed adult j1 and some senior friendlies. And despite me anxiety refereeing is good for me. I'm not struggling to hold anything together just think basic levels of respect should be met. I have generally overreacted at times. I have been a dick at sometimes but only ever in reaction to abuse put up by others towards me. KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 1636 - 15/07/2020 17:52:49 2284156 Link 2 |

Am I being serious or not? Who knows..... Red thumbs are bad for the forum The forum needs to modernise. Look at other boards and website discussion forums and use their templates and get modern! KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 1636 - 16/07/2020 10:39:47 2284192 Link 0 |
Calm down ref. No need to get so worked up over the colour red

Red thumbs dont aid discussion. They are misused. If people want changes to the forum. Bringing back red thumbs should be last on list. Better look to forum, better features would be much better KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 1636 - 16/07/2020 13:00:01 2284206 Link 0 |
And others displaying their paranoia.

Do you know what doesn't aid discussion? Lack of knowledge on topics, terrible grammar, condescending manner of questioning and victimhood when someone responds in kind. Green or red thumbs come after all that. I can't think of a time they've ever stopped or even hindered debate.

There isnt any victimhood. Just sick of the potshots I receive and the double standards at play on this website. If you are talking about lack of knowledge and saying that to me then you can say that to dozens of the regular posters on this site. Red thumbs easily stop debate. If you cant respond to a post then you put up a red thumb. You dont have to have a reason you can deliberately just add red thumbs for no reason KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 1636 - 16/07/2020 15:46:50 2284226 Link 0 |
Probably best for you to stick to all those technically advanced forums you keep speaking of but never name
SaffronDon (Antrim) - Posts: 2020 - 16/07/2020 16:23:56 2284233 Link 1 |
Named plenty of them in past Boards.ie and many others That this is technically deficient doesnt mean I shouldn't use this site. Do you not think the forum would be better if it was more in tune with nearly all other web discussion forums? KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 1636 - 16/07/2020 16:38:35 2284235 Link 0 |
In fairness, now that there's only green thumbs left, we could blame Hoganstand if the Green and Red don't lift the Sam in 2020. We haven't used that one yet.

I don't get the thumbs controversy. I never even look at them after I post Breezy (Limerick) - Posts: 1106 - 16/07/2020 17:43:31 2284242 Link 1 |
Nor I - never once looked at them. If people hanging for green thumbs, they don't believe in their own argument. And I have never red or green thumbed anybody! StoreysTash (Wexford) - Posts: 864 - 16/07/2020 18:28:36 2284250 Link 0 |
No more than a lot people. It's of no importance whatsoever unless you are of a certain disposition.

Hopefully Mayo get their day. I feel like a Mayo man myself the amount of games I've been urging them on.
