i hope when the games restart there will be free entry to all matches at club and county level, for all nurses, front line responders, ambulance drivers, hospital staff , cleaners etc after all they have done for us, or are they [we] just to fond of money? I would imagine they'll be too exhausted to be going to GAA matches. lionofludesch (Down) - Posts: 369 - 09/07/2020 18:02:33 2283598 Link 0 |

Spot on. What a nonsense thread. And I'm saying that as a worker in one of the professions mentioned in the opening post. If that wide number of professions was allowed free entry, would there be anyone at all paying money at the stiles? It would be the end of many gaa clubs around the country if that were to happen. Look at the club in Cork that have had to resort to GoFundMe to keep going. There would be many more in their predicament and there's probably a lot of clubs in a bad financial situation as it is.

I think the majority of us would prefer to have been at home on the covid payment than having to put our lives in danger going into work each shift surrounded by sickness and death.

Stupidest idea ever. What about the person working in your supermarket earning minimum wage, the people who volunteered all over the country to bring food to old people (I was one and don't expect anything). StoreysTash (Wexford) - Posts: 864 - 09/07/2020 19:46:50 2283608 Link 4 |
well maybe you would but 350 aint worth a fek compared to what doctors earn, or admin staff or whatever,

unfortunately, and youll see it coming up to xmas, the jobs affected will come to the fore. this is the nightmare on the way down the line. It will do more damage than the virus itself. now, what do we do. lilypad (Kildare) - Posts: 1357 - 09/07/2020 22:26:40 2283624 Link 1 |
350 is about the same as what most working in shops get for a week and they had to work too

Its worth an awful lot to you when you don't have to put your health in danger everyday. Also I'll think you'll find that apart from doctors and consultants there's not too many frontline workers making mega bucks. Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 979 - 10/07/2020 08:36:36 2283641 Link 0 |
just to fond of money?"]This has been a very annoying thing about all of this. There has been more than nurses etc putting themselves at rick during the whole thing, regardless of what the media etc try to say. In a lot of ways the people in supermarkets etc were putting themselve at more risk and coming into contact with a lot more people and not knowning if the people who they did come into contact had it or not. oneoff (UK) - Posts: 402 - 10/07/2020 09:33:40 2283642 Link 3 |

I think most check out assistants are very well protected now behind the perspex screens. Floor staff less so but I expect the supermarkets would be supplying them with masks if they wanted them but most are not wearing them. But I agree wholeheartedly that low paid/average paid workers in retail/ transport/ delivery/catering etcshould be equally cherished for their contributionduring this pandemic. In the hardest days of this scourge, Ive often thought of sunny days in Croke Park, milling around Drumcondra having a few pre and post match beers drinking in the sunshine and craic. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 3671 - 12/07/2020 10:24:25 2283830 Link 3 |
