Well he is hardly going to teach rival county players how to kick frees even though they could do with him in Mayo for an hour or two!!

If you are a 12 year old you haven't really got a technique but raw ability, getting a sound technique at this point could make a big difference, over the years the kid may change it to suit want works best. Even established kickers have coaches - professional sports have them so why would they have them if they didn't make a difference even at that level.

I mean is it individuals he is targeting or clubs. Maybe both. Also are the prices listed per hour/half day or per day. It doesn't say. It's all very vague.

Reading this thread when you see what he is charging it's taking the **** a bit regarding being an amateur player. Being honest I think it's not as bad as Gooch's testimonial though. bdbuddah (Meath) - Posts: 768 - 24/07/2020 12:19:51 2285112 Link 2 |
I don't think he'd be doing it if Gavin was still manager. 97Cavans (Cavan) - Posts: 108 - 24/07/2020 12:58:15 2285115 Link 0 |
Jesus he is hardly going charging 12 year olds 350 quid a session!! That's even worse!!

If free taking schools are against the amateur ethos then are autobiographies also considered a sin Breezy (Limerick) - Posts: 1106 - 24/07/2020 13:13:27 2285119 Link 0 |
I would imagine he is targeting club players but ultimately it will be the club that will pay the fee. The bigger the group the more he is charging. 350 for 1 person, 400 for 2 persons etc etc. Not sure about length of time.

Educate yourself as to where the pale is /was before making your broad generalized statements. Ridiculous comment.

Good luck to him. And is he is successful ( which I am sure he will) many more will follow him. greysoil (Monaghan) - Posts: 830 - 24/07/2020 13:25:35 2285125 Link 1 |
Maybe so, but clubs could spend that money on a lot worse things

I don't really care who he is targeting, if they want to pay for it, its up to them - if a 12yr old parents want to pay for it why does it matter to anyone else but the person paying it.

I would be really shocked if he's getting lots of people taking this up at that price. Yourjoking (USA) - Posts: 525 - 24/07/2020 13:57:05 2285138 Link 0 |
Have you ever tried to excel at any skill?

I'd be more intrigued to see how well he'd cope with taking a pressure free at a packed championship knockout game in front of 40,000 in Killarney or Castlebar, or a stormy Salthill. But alas we will never see such a thing. republicofcloone (Leitrim) - Posts: 120 - 24/07/2020 14:39:57 2285145 Link 2 |

Any true GAA person would not feel comfortable taking money for training a 12 year. I highly doubt Rock is doing that. Is more geared towards adults I hope.

Can I ask those posters supporting Dean in this instance. . . cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4135 - 24/07/2020 16:52:17 2285155 Link 4 |
Dean Rock is not getting a wad to play though. Its not like for like. He is using his name and his talent to try to make schilling or 350. Has that not what a rake of players before him have done? Some write books, some have basketball camps, some open gyms, some give talks, some have testimonials, a lot do personal appearances, some even give up their jobs to actually be a professional GAA player. How is this any different?
