Trying to figure out how this works?
For example if Limerick lost to clare and then clare went on to lose to tipp and waterford lost to Cork in Munster. In leinster Laois lost to Dublin who lost to KIlkenny and galway lose to wexford is there then 6 teams in the backdoor section
Limerick, Clare, Waterford,Laois Dublin & Galway who someway are drawn to end up with 2 left to play the losing provincial finalists?

4 of the 6 teams play qualifier round 1 and other 2 get a by to qualifier round 2, winners of the round 2 games play provincial runners up in quarter finals

In effect. I believe the 2 of 6 that get byes to rd 2 is based on 'luck of the draw'.

Per my own/other post (is the Munster draw lopsided?), I offered a remedy - the 2 byes should a QF team from each Prov - either the QF winners if they lose their SFs; and if they win the SFs, then the QF losers should get the byes instead.

Would this be better ?

Yes, any SF loser who won a QF should avoid qualifier round 1. I don't think they're doing that but it'd be fairer.
