Jeepers, surely that couldn't happen, I couldn't watch, but then couldn't look away either if that happened, imagine the tension and it all coming down to the last kick........be incredible.

A penalty shootout would certainly be box office but a terrible way to lose

Be a weird way to loose a game of football A chara, something just wouldn't feel right about it. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but maybe for the greater good, I wonder how likely it is we will see one, probably not very. Discipline may be crucial though, wouldn't fancy extra time with 14 men. I wouldn't wish it on any player from any county...missing a penalty to loose an all Ireland final....

Then again, Stephen Cluxton stepping up to take a winning penalty after saving the previous one.....glass half full. :)

Don't understand why Tyrone are being underestimated, they could have beaten Kerry last year and we all know how good Kerry are on their day Galway4ever (Galway) - Posts: 134 - 02/07/2020 23:31:09 2282818 Link 1 |
Was catching up on our potential fixture list for end of league and championship later in year. So following completion of club championship monaghan expected to play 2 rounds of league then cavan the following weekend in ulster preliminary. If we beat cavan three further weekends in a row if we manage to get to ulster final. Its the fixture list from the lunatic asylum 6 weekends in a row potentially to win ulster and stay up. Know other ulster teams expected to do likewise to get to croke Park to face a dublin who will have walzed through leinster. Not a hope of us doing anything in this championship with that run of games. Our first 15 can compete with any side but we'd need 2 teams for that fixture list which we dont have. Donegal are currently best side in ulster followed by tyrone whoever wins that game will face the Dubs but really hard to see an Ulster side being in contention in this abridged championship. They may as well just let kerry play dublin again as that will be the final both sides have best run of matches and good squads to cope with that many games in a short period of time outside of any other team. seanie08 (Monaghan) - Posts: 1498 - 03/07/2020 12:07:26 2282863 Link 1 |

Simple Quiz, what County Teams are training now, wait I will make it easier and shorter, what County Teams are not Training. More important what action should betaken against these teams and Managers who are breaking the rules and destroying Club Football. jacktheboy (Donegal) - Posts: 39 - 04/07/2020 15:11:28 2283024 Link 1 |
"Destroying club football" jeysus what an exaggeration

Missing a penalty would be as bad as scoring an own goal, nightmare stuff. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 1076 - 04/07/2020 22:56:00 2283085 Link 0 |
Our fav ref is always more than a match for us. Wasn't great in 2015 and was completely bare-faced about it in 2019. Even the "impartial" RTÉ commentator in 2019 who had been "hoping"(!) for a Kerry score considered his 55th minute decision (no free, when a sort of Kerry scrum collapsed on McShane) a "very strange" decision. In a tight match, a few cynical decisions create momentum for the favoured team. There was no way that shower of upstarts was going to be let disrupt the dream final. Tyrone just aren't used to his sophisticated style of refereeing : ) Tyrone's PR is not great though, and it has an effect in RTÉ. I agree that Harte should never again speak to RTÉ, but it's time to let the players speak to RTÉ.

Seanie are you suggesting the reason none of the Ulster teams would beat dublin is because of the fixture list, tyrone donegal and Monaghan have been the top three ulster teams of the last ten years and all of them were comfortably beaten by dublin when ever they met in championship, more often then not hammered, except for one game in 2014, Dublins most competitive match to reach this years all Ireland will come from meath or kildare in this years leinster final in my opinion. Dublin v kerry/galway all Ireland is my prediction.

No course not dublin better than them all. My point is what was already a v difficult task is virtually impossible with the fixture list for Oct November. Was reading conor mcmanus in interview during week and theyd have to be out six weekends in a row from the league resumption to win ulster not a hope just dont have strength in depth to cope with that run of games. Meath are definitely improving been unlucky in a few league matches in div but just dont see them or kildare yet troubling dublin. Agree between dublin galway kerry this year.

Tyrone's main complaint with last year's officiating should concern the way Peter Harte was constantly taken out of the game by a player who seemed to have no interest in the ball. There was one such incident in the second half right in front of the referee but he completely ignored it. It's a mystery how neither of the linesmen showed any interest in something that should have been impossible to ignore.
