I know, sure every team in the country has 1or2 of those type of playersand they're needed as well but Jack Barry has more skill than we're allowed to see.

You would be better served to wait until you've seen a Championship performance before guaranteeing anything.

As I already stated Mark O Connor has not played senior so we cant judge.A brilliant minor but senior a different league and one cant argue about Brian Fenton s brilliance.I saw plenty of Mark as a minor for the record

We're more then happy, with Jack Barry on Fenton, Fenton just drifts him out and makes space through, look how much the Dublin half back lined scored and over the two games, absolute field day. Not so sure Jack Barry marking Fenton is to the oppositions benefit to be honest, it's micro analysis stuff, there is a way bigger picture to that dynamic. I think most people are right to go with Galway out of Connacht this year. There's more than a fair chance that by the time the championship kicks off Galway will have relieved Mayo of the league title and Div 1 status as a side-effect. That said we don't know what we'll have players-wise. Mattie Ruane will presumably be back (assuming he's not going to the AFL), as will Jason Doherty and maybe even Boyler. Fionn McDonagh is another who wasn't available for the league, but he had a good first season before that. It's all ifs and buts though, so the first we'll see what's in the tank will be the league game with Galway. Like every year with Mayo, you hope for the best and they usually give you something.

I don't think the knock-out format favours any team in particular (other than the usual observation that the Ulster teams have a much tougher path through their province than Dublin or Kerry) but I think the time of year increases the chances of some big upsets. There likely will be some games played in miserable weather on tight, heavy pitches and the conditions could be a great leveller. Also, with the games coming thick and fast every week, players will not have much recovery time, which will likely result in more players missing games through injuries, and this could be an important factor. The heavy pitches will be a factor you'd imagine. Mullineachta winning the Leinster Club a few years was a great achievement but the heavy pitch helped too. Doubt they would have taken out kilmacud on a hot July day. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2216 - 02/07/2020 00:06:48 2282627 Link 0 |
We're also more than happy with Barry on Fenton. Every single time Barry has marked him he has caused Fenton to have a poor game. I don't think Barry marking Fenton had anything to do with the Dublin half back line getting a bit of joy (I actually don't think they got the much joy bar McCaffrey in the drawn game when he was left free. Murchan getting the goal was purely down to the Moran error). Our midfielders usually stay with their men anyway so it's not like we're missing some key part of our defensive cover.

Yes where exactly in Kerry are you from? I'm just curious seeing as certain rather sad Dublin posters have tired in the past to create "Kerry" supporters among their alter-egos!! TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 5828 - 02/07/2020 10:16:53 2282657 Link 5 |

In this hypothetical fantasy are we going to be as far fetched as fantasize about Dublin playing a game outside the M50? Daith (Kildare) - Posts: 1126 - 03/07/2020 20:30:02 2282957 Link 4 |
