Replying To royaldunne:  "Really?? Meath beat cork comfortably last year in cork. And cork were relegated and Meath promoted."
Cork won the minor and U20 all ireland last year, recovered from an awful league made it to the super 8's,this year going very well in division 3 and using alot of players.

Replying To yew_tree:  "You should direct your anger at your County Board for not having home championship games v the dubs.

Maybe I was being harsh...also Connacht ain't as easy to win as you think."
No anger, better things to concern me in life. And after 4 decades you get to accept the debacle.
You didn't seem to understand the Leinster champ for what it is so I explained the farce to you. County board were culpable to a point but here what Leinster council says goes and that is to protect Dublin gaa as much as possible. And it's a hell of alot worse than the few examples of what's going on than ive given you here.
Also I meant connacht is "easier" not "easy". I am very familiar with connacht football believe me.

Cork were a shambles during the league but improved dramatically as the year wore on and have a really good group of young players. Doubt there is more than a kick of a ball between them and Meath quite honestly. Hopefully both Cork and Meath keep improving and push on rather than go backwards from here.

There no open draw this year

It's old system knock out system from 80s and 90s

Season kickoff on 17 October with round 6 of National football league

All Ireland finals in December

How is Connacht easier? Connacht has a nice few good teams you need to beat to win it and Leinster only has 1

Yes that's what's been reported for the last few weeks. They couldn't have an open draw anyway when the fixtures for the championship were already made, just being played at a later date.

Why could they not ignore the draw that was made.

Could they not get started before mid-October? It seem a tight schedule to fit in 2 rounds of the league and knockout championship in 2 months, assuming they want it done before Christmas.

Meath done very well considering the amount of players missing this year in division 1, made super 8s last year. And were ahead Of Donegal Kerry and Mayo with 60 mins to go (one of those games may have been level) but you get my point. Underage success has never been a great indicator to senior, for instance Meath have won one u21 title they have 7 senior. Kildare have won minor 21s etc and can never get it transferred to senior. Sorry I don't rate this cork team at the moment.

Would not put too much stock in results from div 2 that year, Cork were missing several players when we beat them in league, we more or less had a full squad to pick from, fortunes have since reversed with Meath loosing several to injury and Cork working their way back. Saw both teams a number of times last year and there is nothing between us. Both will meet again in Div 2 next year.

They could. Connacht will have to be redrawn because London and New York may not be able to play. NY are definitely out so Galway will probably get a bye into the SF. Maybe Roscommon as well. I'd be livid as a Mayo or Leitrim fan.

I'd say most Mayo and Leitrim men who have any interest in football would have a fair idea on how the Galway v New York and Roscommon v London games would go anyway....

Surely the Ulster teams are at a huge disadvantage with the draw staying the same.

Not livid....why would we be? From a Mayo perspective it's as hard a connacht final to win this year...Leitrim, Roscommon and Galway all away to potentially win the Connacht title but many will argue we play better away from home anyway.

I think the big problem is a second wave which will see no inter county action. Let's hope the experts are wrong....

Depends what way you look at it.

They're at a disadvantage to Dublin and Kerry probably because of a harder route.

They're in much better shape than Meath or Kildare or Cork for not being in Dublin or Kerry's quarter of the draw.
