Cul Camps Are Going Ahead

(Oldest Posts First)

Great news about the Cul Camps today.

It will give all the kids that have missed so much in the last few months something to look forward to in the next few months.

I see a small number of clubs in Cork have decided not to run with their own. Clubs that have will be in a race against time now to be ready by 20 July.

157,000 children participated in the camps last year. Was it the right decision to go ahead with them with health and safety measures being a priority?

I suspect that this is misguided, given that several countries that are ahead of Ireland in terms of managing the outbreak have had resurgences in the number of cases that they've had since exiting lockdown. But people are probably sick to the back teeth of not being able to move around much and there's also pressure on to get the economy going again.

I have mixed feelings, great to see things getting moving again but are we trying to push too much too soon. At this point in time, I have no grasp on what is and is not allowed, very confusing.

I have 2 kids myself that will be delighted to get back playing and it would be great if the Cul Camps went ahead. However not sure how our club are going to handle the 100+ kids at a camp under current guidelines. Do the GAA know that by July 20th there will be a total relaxation of the rules and kids will be allowed to mix?

Apparently there are a lot of clubs not going to run the cul camps as they have no control who attends them, the kids could be from anywhere. The fact that the website crashed today shows there is a huge demand for them.

Ours is going ahead on 17th August.

No kids from outside the Club allowed take part.

Right too.

Every clubs should limit it to the local area. I assume most will but who knows

Makes sense to limit it to your own club players I think. Seem a lot of clubs are going to run their own camps, guessing this will make them some much needed money.
