Best of luck to him. I guess I'm a Georgia Tech fan now.

Amazing opportunity and story. I like American Football myself and often thought that GAA and Rugby players would make good punters and kickers in the NFL given that they have been kicking a ball their entire lives, all they need is a pathway to the US colleges. Some determination from the young man to go to Australia to practice. GeniusGerry (Kerry) - Posts: 1957 - 18/05/2020 21:56:13 2278652 Link 4 |
Definitely harder than it looks. It's a position that young American players tend not to focus on, so this crowd in Australia seem to have set up an academy focused on converting former Aussie Rules players. A few of them have played in the NFL in recent years. Fair play to David for taking the risk. At the very worst, he's got a full scholarship to get an education. With that he has a completely new experience and if all goes very well with playing college football, a chance to make the NFL.

Sean OShea would make a good punter.

Good interview with David shanahan on Maura and Dáithí today, if anyone is interested, he comes across as very down to earth, best of luck to him but we're losing players left right and centre. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 11732 - 30/05/2020 02:05:54 2279490 Link 0 |
Didn't see that. I'd say Aidan would be a tight end, which is a receiver that mostly catches short throws over the middle and also blocks defenders to protect the QB depending on the play. These guys tend to be big strong men with good hands. He'd ideal for that job actually, albeit maybe a little small.
