It's a very harsh ban for what he has allegedly taken the drugs for. When you're sick your immune system is vulnerable so taking antibiotics doesn't give you an edge it just helps fight against infection in your body.
However if he did use them for performance enhancement then the ban is full deserved.

If a Dublin footballer has to get a prescription they have to run it by the team doctor to make sure they are allowed take it (Pretty sure most other top counties would have a similar procedure). That is good player management. If they can give them an alternative antibiotic which will help get better and not fail a drug test, they do however if they need to specifically take that exact antibiotic then management usually won't name a player in the squad until the antibiotics are out of the players system.

Now for Munster or the IRFU not to know what what Cronin picked up from the pharmacy or even question it is bizarre given what an amateur teams do for their player.

What would you suggest the GPA should have done last November?

The 'nonsensical' FIFA tournament organised by the GPA and Joanne O'Riordáin is to benefit fronfontline workers. Fair play to them.

Surely he knew there are banned substances and he knew that he had no training in that area. Therefore he should have sought training.

I presume we have some players on this forum (ye must be here because ye are always able to tell us what ye didn't read!). Can anyone enlighten us to the procedure when you join an I/C panel. Do you have to sign up for your grant and do you have to sign any forms or are you given any literature or is there any procedure?

What on earth are you on about? There is loads of advice on this matter provided by the GPA. It's a topic that they provide a lot of information on.
Are you expecting that Paul Flynn should be running to the pharmacy for all intercounty players.
How did he know this player needed advice in November? Is he supposed to be a mind-reader too?
Some of the stuff spouted here at times is embarrassing.
There are plenty things to take the GPA to task on. Having a dig at Paul Flynn on this however, makes no sense.
Ray Walker is a 35 year old man. He took what he did and has accepted the punishment like a responsible person.
