What a player. Could do it all. If you were designing a midfielder he's the template! MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13145 - 16/04/2020 20:10:50 2276125 Link 2 |

I remember seeing him play against Cavan in a qualifier match in Clones and he was unbelievable that day. Paddy Bradley was playing as well. gaelicgab (USA) - Posts: 871 - 16/04/2020 21:55:09 2276133 Link 0 |
He and McGilligan. Mighty battles v Plunkett Donaghy and McClure. McGilligan was once being treated for an injury, and the physio, surveying his enforcer physique, said to him: "you're better, and you can go back doing the weights now too.". McGilligan said: "I don't do weights.". Bloke barely knew his own strength. Tohill had it all. Possibly a wee bit too clean; but a footballing genius. essmac (Tyrone) - Posts: 796 - 18/04/2020 17:22:18 2276228 Link 0 |
Brilliant player. He was an excellent pundit on RTÉ as well. Unfortunately for him he broke the golden rule of Gaelic Football punditry when he had the temerity to criticise the Kerry Group PLC. They didn't liked that at all, at all.. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3772 - 19/04/2020 11:09:23 2276254 Link 1 |
I think tohill was trown under the bus by the Sunday game, Anthony was the Irish football manager at the time and shouldn't really have been bringing players that he could be wanting to play for him to task on the telly. Could you imagine Gareth Southgate doing that on match of the day? Also I think what the big problem was on that occasion was there were other incidents involving corks players in that game that weren't mentioned, there was balance needed, also I'm not sure that's why he stepped down.
