Been biased here mostly all donegal games and really enjoy the leagues, first real memory was the 82 ulster under 21 game in irvinestown, and then the 83 ulster final , of course first all Ireland in 92 was special but a cracker of a game was a national league quarter final I think 88 in breffini between ourselves and the dubs, another one was 2007 league game in cork which we won by 2 mcivor was in charge, didn't even notice the ref that night end to end stuff. Went to Tyrone's 3 all Ireland's and watched the saga of 91 in 4 different pubs in London great banter. The game against Kildare in 2011 is the game I really enjoyed had everything from scores to atmosphere, extra time but especially the result in the end,was the making of that team.

Kilkenny ruined hurling?
Do you hear that Henry Shefflin, J. J. Delaney, Tommy Walsh, Michael Kavanagh, Jackie Tyrrell, Michael Fennelly, T. J. Reid, et al. Benny from Cork says youse all ruined hurling. Shame on you all."]I didn't say that now in fairness. To clarify. I don't like modern inter County hurling because I think it is blighted by rucks (you hear pundits refer to 'ruck ball') and scorelines that read 2-32 to 1-35 for some signify a great game but, for me, it means a minimum of 70 Puck outs which are, often, uncontested because of this sweeper system . I am not a fan of it but that has nothing to do with Kilkenny. There were also tactics that Cork probably introduced that I don't like. I never mentioned any individuals.

All those you mentioned are/were part of the most successful team ever and they deserve all of their success and praise that comes their way. I certainly did not name check anybody. If Kilkenny win the next 10, I have no problem with it either.

When someone on here says they prefer football, others get so hyper-sensitive and are primed to attack immediately. We don't have to agree on everything. People are entitled to their own preferences. I used to love hurling but gave my reasons why I like it a lot less now (at intercounty level). I did that without putting any body down. If you don't agree then fine, continue to enjoy the game. Your enjoyment isn't diminished by the fact that others don't like the product. If it is and you have a problem with people that think football is better then you are too sensitive.

Its just that you said hurling was better in 95 than it has been since 95 which is mind boggling for many, me included.

Hurling has evolved like all sports. It will continue to evolve. Evolution cannot be stopped. Players are better prepared than ever before. Coaching continues to improve. One cannot argue with that.

However, despite the improvements above, in my opinion the spectacle is not better. In the last league Sunday, I think, the pundits were talking about the term ruck ball and players ability to win balls in rucks. To me the term 'ruck ball' is odious and rucks are not all attractive. A blight actually.

In another edition of League Sunday recently, there was a discussion on cynicism in hurling and a possible black card for hurling. Of course, it ended with another flat denial that hurling is in anyway cynical and 'the let game flow' brigade won the day. This is typical attitude and proves if anything negative in hurling is brought to light in hurling is met with attack by the hyper sensitive 'hurling is the greatest game in the world' crew.

Donal Og (and I am no fan if his just because he is from Cork) goes on and on about the use of spare hand. This was discussed again on League Sunday this year (or maybe last). Can't remember who was with him but rather than engage in the debate, the riposte was simply 'ah sure hurling is a physical game'.. Aren't we great..

Babs Keating (and I am no real fan of his either) and others have discussed introducing a heavier sliothar. The main aim is that they want to keep the ball in play a bit more. Maybe a heavier sliothar is not the solution but, again, there has been no debate on this issue either.

As is prove on here, if there is even the slightest murmur of criticism of hurling, you are met with fierce attack.

Replying To Eddie the Exile:  "Kerry losing is the 7th and the most important ingredient for a classic. Watching the team with the best record in the game getting toppled adds to the drama for sure"
This apears to be true, as rte and tg4 seem to be shown a lot of games where Kerry have lost, they have shown Kerry v ofally 82 Kerry v Dublin 77 Kerry v Dublin 2011 Kerry v Dublin 2013 Kerry v Mayo 2017 and only one game where we won which was against Donegal in 14 , it seems to be more important that a shown game has Kerry losing rather than just a good game of football where we might have got over the line, I can remember great games against Monaghan in the naughtys where we barely got over the line.

They were good games but there are plenty of very good games where we won by a point or two. I know we should be flattered as it means we're the best team in the land and that everyone once to beat us or see us beaten but I would just like a bit of balanced programming and to see a few of the games where we won.

I love hurling also, but I agree that there are parts of today's game I don't like. The ball travels to far, no one goes for goals anymore and the number of times a ball is thrown in is ridiculous. The skill level of today's players is off the charts but if you watch a game even from the early 2000's the ball is in play much more often and the ball was rarely thrown in compared to today.

Haha I think you might be on to something there lad, I just read that eir are showing some classic games and what do they start with only Clare beating in us in the munster final of 92 and thats followed by offaly beating us in 82.

There is definitely a pattern for sure :-)
