Sorry I meant no offence to Galway when I mentioned your county in my post, I'm a big admirer of Galway football. It's just some people on here are fair weather supporters and don't know their history. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 11732 - 26/03/2020 11:16:05 2274713 Link 2 |
yeah heard about that alright, apparently the winning goal was scored when the forward threw the ball into the net..same thing happened in a provincial final in recent times...day light robbery:)

Oh definitely the best speech ever..still gives me passionate shivers of pride when I hear it! But tonight is all about the great Iggy Clarke from the wonderful team of 1980. katser (Galway) - Posts: 1058 - 26/03/2020 16:17:47 2274750 Link 0 |

1980 semi final Kerry vs Offally mad scoreline 4-15 to 4-10 or there abouts mad scoreline, think Matt Connor scored something like 2-06 or more mad game wide open free flowing football end to end Horsebox77 (Kerry) - Posts: 4877 - 27/03/2020 22:07:49 2274852 Link 3 |
I'd take Mayo v Dublin 2006, same fixture in 2012 or the semi against Kerry in 2017. Feck it, any game we didn't throw away or lose at this stage! Gleebo (Mayo) - Posts: 1803 - 28/03/2020 11:17:38 2274880 Link 2 |
If you replace complete with buy I think you'll find you'll be more in tune with histories judgment ;D

I'd didn't like the idea of us being of the one mind on another thread :D

Had to look it up, what a speech. That's what an All-Ireland speech should be, not 50 thank you's right down to the lad who milked the cows for the corner back.

Armagh peaked in 05. The narrowness of that defeat to Tyrone knocked the stuffing out of them; they were never the same again.

I'd love to be able to see games from the 50s with modern filming quality; eg when Tyrone won their first Ulster title in 56. Another fantastic game was Galway v Tyrone in the league start of 04. Nothing much hanging on the game but it was one of those games where both teams just decided to go for it. Galway won AET; P Joyce and S Cavanagh both immense. Tyrone v Armagh 05 was a great game; extremely close and a good balance between quality defending and quality attacking. Some games that have passed into folklore are, when viewed objectively, characterised by some woeful defending. essmac (Tyrone) - Posts: 796 - 28/03/2020 15:43:00 2274896 Link 0 |
Derry vs Down, first round 1994; greatest match ever, two brilliant teams, and whichever team won was going to stroll Sam Maguire. Blazing hot day, gladiatorial atmosphere, intensity was non-stop from start to finish. And also possibly the greats goal ever, esp in context befair (Down) - Posts: 191 - 28/03/2020 16:13:56 2274898 Link 1 |
Neither did I!
