What big days? The 5 Ulster Finals hes won in his 20s? 2 years ago he gave one of the great displays ever seen by an away player down in Kerry, where they know a top footballer, kicking 10pts on the day. 'Quite easy for the top corner backs to mark" haahaha ManusFromHeaven (Donegal) - Posts: 319 - 23/03/2020 14:19:18 2274381 Link 1 |
Colm McFadden was all left foot and it didn't stop him winning an All Star and being championship top scorer in a supposedly defensive team in 2012.

Should have won one in 2010. Didn't get it as imo Paddy Keenan was given a token one after what had happened n the Leinster final

That's amazing. For me he's been the best footballer in Ulster for a few years now (recent time out with injuries aside).

Definitely Kevin McLoughlin from Mayo. Should probably have got one in 2012 and 2017. Never gets injured either. Even this year he's been one of our best players in the league. MayoDan (Mayo) - Posts: 189 - 23/03/2020 21:30:24 2274429 Link 0 |

Not a chance in my opinion. Murphy was but for me if I was a Donegal man McBrearty and McHugh are the men now. No doubt Murphy is the leader of that team but for me McBrearty is their match winner.

I'm 99% sure he was nominated at least once.

Shane Walsh should have had one in 2018 instead of Ian Burke. Burke was very good, but Walsh was excellent in more of our games and was the main reason we turned around the Connacht final. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 875 - 24/03/2020 16:27:16 2274497 Link 0 |
I've seen him damage Monaghan a few times, notably brilliant against them in the 2014 Ulster Final.

When mcbrearty got injured in 2018 I remember being very deflated. His form that season was really good. Excellent against Kerry in Killarney, excellent against Galway in letterkenny, an outrageous second half against Dublin in the league, then was injured for a few games before being decent against mayo. Leading scorer in Ulster championship and was all set for super 8s. It was so disappointing for him. Didn't even get an Irish news Ulster all star!!!

We have never seen enough of paddy McBrearty unfortunately, I seen his brother Stephen at minor level and thought he was unreal. I often think if Jim McGuinness had brought paddy on earlier in the 2014 final we could have been in trouble, I often wonder if mayo had beat us in the semifinal would Jim have started paddy in the final. Mayo Dan I agree with you on mcglogholin but Seamie O'Shea was only ever a squad player unfortunautly.

All-Stars appear to be based on who reaches and wins AI's. In last few years you have situations where guys are given All Stars (AS) even though they do not play in position given. Now on best players! every county has at least one good player but most of these never get a AS, or indeed a mention. Now you do not win an AS-it is given out. You win matches. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2189 - 28/03/2020 11:02:15 2274879 Link 10 |
A few has mentioned Enda Smith for us but I'd have Cathal Cregg and Niall Daly before him. ispeakwisdom (Roscommon) - Posts: 2410 - 28/03/2020 16:43:30 2274900 Link 0 |

Exactly, which is why a lot of us have lost interest in the A/Ss years ago.
