It would be amazing but realistically it could never happen over that time frame. Last 32 means 16 games on one weekend, there aren't enough officials to get that done. 4 refs per game, (1 ref, 2 linesmen, sideline official) means 64 needed. I know it's the same for a league weekend but it would mean an awful lot of inexperienced refs being thrown into championship action together. Would the GAA take that risk?

If we ever do get back playing, could we kill 2 birds with 1 stone by having the scheduled round 6 of the NFL double as the first round of a 32 team All Ireland Championship? The competition could be run as a double knockout format (like the Christy Ring Cup was up until 2 years ago) to guarantee every team 2 games. It would also put us half way to finishing the league. The remaining round of league fixtures can be played as teams get knocked out, or not played at all if the results are irrelevant to promotion and relegation.
