Did I see young Paul Kelly for the Galway seniors vs Mayo last weekend, I presume this means he's out of the U20 final now? TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 3671 - 19/11/2020 00:14:36 2311289 Link 0 |
The rule was changed, he can play. TheBishop (Galway) - Posts: 60 - 19/11/2020 12:40:17 2311377 Link 0 |
I for one am delighted that rule was recinded.Kerry were badly hit by that rule.We lost all Ireland semi to Kildare in 2018 by one point who went on to win final and we could nt play Seanie O Shea or David Clifford due to rule.In hurling the rules were different. At least the Gaa realise some mistakes. Missed the rescinding of this is it temporary with C19 or gone all together? TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 3671 - 19/11/2020 22:19:35 2311579 Link 0 |
The rule shouldnt have been rescinded and it should have been in place in hurling as well Under 20 is still a development age group. Clifford and players like him are above 20s and not using them allows another player a place in the squad/team. KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 1636 - 20/11/2020 01:44:25 2311602 Link 0 |
I'm not sure User but hope it's gone for good.

It does allow other players in of course but damages the teams prospects. Also it can upset senior teams with some counties. Some might feel they have a better chance at u 20 grade so their senior team loses out on a few good players. That can have a detrimental effect of some of the weaker counties
