Jes I hope you're right Jim. well done to Galway and Dublin, didn't see the Galway game, thought Dublin V Tyrone was very good and Tyrone have some great young players there too, just not their day today, it's great to see county football again, better than any medicine.

Would this be the first dublin galway final at any grade since that famous dirty dozen dublin team beat galway in the 1983 senior final, I'm looking forward to this game would galway be slight favourites. Royal.Legend (Meath) - Posts: 461 - 17/10/2020 22:20:20 2298578 Link 0 |
Nah since the 12 apostles game, there's been a few, more recently we played in the 2017 U 21 final and 2018 national league final, I think we played again in the Championship semi final the year to, Cluxton saving a penalty to turn the tide when Galway were ahead and in the ascendency in the first half.

No Galway beat Dublin in the 2003 U-21 final. Dublin beat Galway in the 2017 U-21 final.

Sweeney must be some player. I would have said its Oisin Gallen myself with my Donegal bias of course. Though given what I seen yesterday and bits of Gallen I seen in the club championship that opinion has not changed.

I think that Galway poster is overrating Sweeney. Very good player but definitely wouldn't be top 5 and maybe not top 10. Oisín Mullen the best u20 in the country in my opinion. Followed by Gallen and then Blake Murphy. That would be my top 3. Then there's the likes of Aaron Mulligan, Darragh Canavan, Shane Walsh, Paul O'Shea, Mark Cronin and Ciaran Archer.

It was tough on both teams (Galway and Kerry) missing so many starters on Saturday, but the lads who came in for us were super. Some of them were minor last year, and have another couple of years at the grade. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 875 - 20/10/2020 11:40:06 2299527 Link 0 |
Will the Galway players who missed the Semi Final be available for the Final, do you know.?

It's unclear yet and a decision will be made by the medical team. Many of them are in different situations timing wise and contact wise, so the short answer is we're likely to have some back, but maybe not all.

Ya Uosis is a good baller for sure but he'll be off to Oz in the new year, his uncle was or is the manager of the Lithuanian soccer team.

It would be some way to miss out on an All Ireland Final. Hopefully all can make it back for the game. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3309 - 20/10/2020 14:09:57 2299612 Link 0 |
I hope the lads who were missing are going to be backs as anyone whos watched much of Galway underage in recent years will tell you Sweeney, Culhane & McLaughlin are the best 3 prospects we have at this age group along with Tierney who did play. Culhane & McLaughlin are still only in their 1st year at this grade and both had excellent club championships for their clubs at Senior Level. Should be a cracking final, hopefully the Galway lads from Moycullen are back, you want to compete against the best. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 3671 - 20/10/2020 16:45:53 2299668 Link 1 |
Try again, Cork have 12 titles, Kerry 10, Dublin and Galway have 5.

Don't take any notice of multiple username EDH he's relatively new to the game of football, going by his posts I reckon he started following dublin in 2011. I was reading on another forum that dublin have won 9 of the last 12 leinster titles at U21/20 level and prior to that they had won 1 leinster in 47 years, that's some improvement in a short time. Mayo have 5 titles too...I'll forgive you for leaving us out of that particular stat ;)

Yep absolutely, apologies, meant to say over the last decade. But a point of mitigation I think we pulled out of this grade for a period of time and banned another year. We've fallen in and out of love with 20's football a few times. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 3671 - 20/10/2020 20:54:28 2299732 Link 1 |
We only count one stats with Mayo, and it is 9 to 3 in case you forgot :)

Correction dublin had won 7 in 45 years prior to 2009.
