Had a quick scan down through there and as far as I can see any other County who has lost an All Ireland has won it at some point. Whereas we have been in 2 and lost 2. And better still, we are prob the only County who has been in both Hurling and Football Finals and never won either. Respect!!!"
Respect indeed.
Kerry are county who have won and lost most finals.
Mayo ,county with player / players who have played in and lost most finals.

Could be worse, like three wins out of sixteen. Still I suppose one would be nice. Might be no harm in reminding GAA headquarters that there are over half a million souls in Antrim. Might tempt them into throwing a few million your way. Get into the schools early and you'd never know what might happen. Add in one or two of those magical volunteers and you're on your way. It's been done before they tell me! Now there's another useless fact.

Kerry have a 100% record in All Ireland hurling finals too (1891)...every bit as impressive as Limerick's record in football!

Monaghan also have a 100% fail record in All Ireland finals. They were runners-up once, in the 1930 Senior Football AI final.

Was reading the annual report last night, the number of coaches being funded in Antrim - Belfast - through the Gaelfest initiative in the main has jumped from 5 - 12 since 2016, the funding has gone up by over 400%, loads more to be done im sure, but at least the need is being acknowledged.

Any how: Five Delaney brothers played for Laois in the 1936 football final when they were defeated by Mayo. Their uncle Tom was in goals. The Delaney family were massively prominent in midlands football both at club and provincial level, the Delaney Cup for the Leinster Championship was named to honor their contribution.

Yeah but they haven't been in any hurling finals - was meaning I think we are the only County who has been in both Hurling and Football finals and always lost.

Jaysus - let us have one record FFS!!! ;-)

How unlucky is that, to come up against us in an All Ireland final and actually lose! Some families just can't catch a break.

Kilkenny haven't won a football championship game in almost a century.
They have won the most hurling All Ireland's.

The only All final Ireland that was scratched was in 1910 and Louth were awarded the championship after Kerry refused to travel to Dublin as the Great Southern and Western Railway would not sell tickets to their fans at reduced rates.

In the 1925 football championship, the Connacht final wasn't played in time so the GAA nominated Mayo to represent the province in the All Ireland semi final. Mayo went on to beat Wexford and qualified for the All Ireland final. In the other semi final Kerry defeated Cavan but subsequently both teams were disqualified for fielding illegal players. Mayo were then declared All Ireland champions for the first time. Mayo, probably wrecked after their game against Wexford and tired and emotional after their All Ireland " win" lost to Galway in the refixed Connacht final. Headquarters then withdrew Mayo's nomination as Connacht champions and Galway were declared new All Ireland champions. This decision did not go down well in some quarters so the GAA, in their wisdom started a mini competition with Galway, Cavan and Kerry. There was no word of Wexford who would have had a cause for an objection on the grounds that they were beaten by a team who technically shouldn't have been in the competition at that stage. If it happened now the lawyers would have a field day. In a further twist Kerry objected to playing Cavan again having beaten them already. Their objection was overruled so Kerry got thick and withdrew from the competition leaving the way open for a Galway, Cavan final. Galway duly won the final, which was played in January 1926, and were again declared All Ireland champions. Which all goes to show that we can't win a feckin final even when we're the only team in it!

The 1925 comp was an absolute farce.

Yeah, there was a bit going on in the country at the time, which was probably a bit of a distraction, but it doesn't excuse all the mind-changing that went on.

The 1911 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final was supposed to be between Limerick and Kilkenny, but Limerick refused to play in Thurles after the original fixture on 18 February 1911 in Cork was postponed owing to the state of the pitch. Tipperary were nominated to play in the All-Ireland final in their absence. Kilkenny were the winners.

Down are the only county Kerry have played in Championship football and never beaten.
Kerry have never played Wicklow or Fermanagh in the Championship.

Before 1893, a goal outnumbered any amount of points and points were only used to decide a game if no goal was scored.
Kerry introduced a rule in 1890 to make a goal equal 5 points and this was subsequently taken up by other counties and then the GAA itself.
It was then reduced to the modern 1 goal = 3 points

Kerry's maiden All Ireland football victory in the 1903 championship, played in 1905, was the only AI in history to go to two replays
Kerry won the final game of that series against Kildare wearing Red and Green jerseys
Kildare, to live up to their lillywhites moniker, actually painted their football boots with whitewash to complete the look
The games were the first to be played with 17 aside, reducing numbers from the original 21 aside

In 1913 the GAA organised the Croke Cup competition to raise funds to build a memorial to their first patron, Archbishop Thomas Croke of Cashel.
Kerry and Louth qualified for the final in 1913 which went to a replay and they became the biggest games in the GAA's history to that point as Louth and Kerry were the great rivals of the era.
Kerry had beaten them in the 1909 AI final, but then a lot of bad blood had arisen between the two in 1910 over Louth being awarded a wake over in the final as Kerry didn't travel due to a dispute over ticket prices with the GSW Railway Co.
Both counties were unexpectedly beaten in their provincial championships in 1911 and in 1912 Kerry were shocked by Antrim in the AI semi-final; with Louth then beating them easily in the final.
The Croke Cup final was the first game played with the modern 15 aside. 25,000 people crammed into Jones Road as Kerry played their traditional "catch and kick" style, while Louth, trained by two soccer coaches from Belfast Celtic, kick passed along the ground, soccer style.
The game finished Kerry 0-4, Louth 1-1
For the replay both counties organized training camps, with the GAA for the first time every granting each £50 to defray their training expenses.
It was estimated that 50,000 attended the replay, by far the largest attendance at any sporting event in Irish history up to that point.
Kerry won 2-4 to 0-5.
The GAA earned nearly £2,400 in gate receipts from the matches and decided to now purchase Jones Road and rename it Croke Park as a fitting memorial to Archbishop Croke.

So next time you're all enjoying a game there, give a word of thanks to the men of Louth and Kerry for making it possible!
