Really looking forward to this league. Unlike other years this will be real must win games. I fancy cork and Derry . Rory has a lot of talented young playtime work with. As for what system he plays it's anyone's guess.

Cork and Down for promotion.

Leitrim and Offaly for relegation even though Offaly fancy themselves for promotion.

There will be plenty of twists here though!

I'll be shocked if cork don't win the division, think Derry might get 2nd place. Think Leitrim will be go down, hard to judge the other relegation position, possibly louth.

Down's first 3 games are Tipp (A), Derry (H) and Cork (A).

They'll either be sitting pretty or looking to avoid relegation - let's hope it's the former!

Mooney will be a big miss for us. There are more important things in life than football though - best of luck with the recovery Caolán!

Cant wait for sunday and a chance to get last week out of our system which was easily our worst performance of the year.

I think leitrim and louth are nailed on for the trap door unfortunately due to the extra significance thar division 3 has this year.

On the other side of things, I see cork as being definitely promoted. After that it is up to the rest of us to get the second spot of promotion and it will be nip and tuck between us, derry and down.

If we get a bit of luck and build on last year I see no reason as to why we cant get promoted. Weve strengthed our squad over the winter and the lads seem happy under maughan.

I agree with Cork, and possibly Down for promotion. Offaly looked more like relegation candidates than promotion contenders last Saturday.
Hopefully things will pick up, apart from favourites Cork, the other 7 teams are capable of beating each other.

Agreed, last weekend wasnt great but it's good to get it out of the system early and hit the ground running this Saturday.

No better time to meet cork imho. Hopefully catch them cold when our lads will be looking to bounce back. Would set us up nicely but far from a disaster if we dont get the win with the run of fixtures we have after the tough opener.

I would have said Cork were nailed on certainties for promotion. Then we lost to Division 4 side Limerick with a fairly strong team. Hopefully, that was a case of getting it out of our system. With four home games - two of them v Derry and Down, things are certainly stacked in our favour. Hope we get there

I think Leitrim will do much better than predicted here. They will be a very tough nut to crack in Carrick. Always have been. Could be dark horses for promotion.

Derry v Leitrim: I predict Derry will get promoted this season, so I will give them the win by 5/6 pts. Leitrim will play nice football but won't be able to cope with the defensive style Derry will bring. I think many teams in this division will struggle against it so Derry to have a good league.

Cork v Offaly: Cork are the obvious choice to win this division this season but Offaly are a fine side. I watched them play Meath in Navan in the LSC last season and if they had a functioning forward line, they would have won by 3/4 pts. In every other facet of the game, they were very competitive. They could be an outside bet for promotion. Still, Cork to win by 5.

Longford v Louth: I have a soft spot for the wee county but think this will be a tough game to call for them. Longford at full strength are a strong team so they should win by 2/3. Longford are another dark horse to pull off upsets, particularly at home.

Tipperary v Down: A very close game. Down should take credence from their display vs. Mayo last season and look to push on another level. This game will be a 3/4 pt victory either way, Tipp have recent experience at Div.2 level so they may well push on in this game.

It's very close on paper but I predict Cork and Derry to win promotion.
My ham-fisted final table prediction (which I'll likely regret): Cork, Derry, Offaly, Down,Longford, Tipperary, Louth, Leitrim.
