Strange looking at a division two thread without Meath been in it, as much as I'd like to see my adopted county get promoted I think it is unlikely and they could be struggling to stay up, but I'm confident that they will, Clare like always could spring a few surprises, Fermanagh nearly got promoted last year , but I don't know if they can achieve same highs this time round, Roscommon are obviously the team to beat , but division 2 is hard especially when you fav to return straight away. All to play for.

Will certainly be very tight here RD! The worse thing that could happen is for your adopted county to get promoted. I think they should stay up comfortably. A loss with Egan & Martin out for a few of the games. But quality players like Connellan, Holloway and Loughlin are all coming back in now also. I expect them to start with a win over Clare on Sunday. Hopefully Meath stay up in D1 also!!

Thats a lot of red thumbs down and compared to some of your previous posts whereby you try to wind up posters yet you haven't said a lot wrong here.

We'll probably be the team that most will want to beat afterall we are provincial champions and are the only team in this division that reached the last 8 of the championship last summer. However we have been hit badly with player opt outs and injuries and we won't know if we are promoted candidates until about round 4 at least.

The media has talked up Kildare and all the bookies has them favourites to win the Division 2 title, loads have a fancy for Armagh also. Even our local journalist Kevin Egan (Offaly man living here) has tipped Kildare and Armagh for the two promotion spots.

With the introduction of the unwanted tier 2 competition for the summer its going to be some scrap to avoid relegation and I'm expecting Division 2 to be the most interesting and competitive of all 4 divisions.

Replying To sam1884:  "Intriguing league where relegation spells disaster. It looks very close this year with anyone of Kildare, Roscommon, Clare, Fermanagh, Armagh, Laois, Cavan capable of going on a run to win promotion but at the same time losing enough close games to go down. Westmeath would be aiming for mid table I'd say."
I'd take mid table! Going to be a struggle

Serious win for Armagh tonight. Not taking from Armagh's win but Cavan must have been atrocious even without their missing players.

Armagh certainly flex their muscles tonight, Cavan I don't think even received a trimming like that in Div 1 last year?

No we didn't, nor did we in league or championship for 4 or 5 years.

But a backroom appointment was made by the county board, over Mickey Graham's head, a week before the Ulster final last year.

Since then, we were comprehensively beaten by Donegal, embarrassed ourselves against Tyrone, have had 7 players walk away from the panel, got easily brushed aside in the McKenna cup and tonight suffered our worst defeat in the best part of a decade.

Frightening result Armagh are obviously a class apart to do that to Cavan a team never more than a couple of points between us and them.

Who was the backroom appointment? If you mean DM he was there all year

I certainly wouldn't go that far. We played well but Cavan were a shadow of the team from last year. I hope they can regroup and maintain their division 2 status.

Cavan were weakened from last year, however Armagh would be easily be as good a 50% of the Div 1 teams and any team in that Devision would be cautious going to the Athletic Grounds and expecting a win.
